I'm considering an e-reader and want to know if magic e-books can be loaded onto a nook or some other brand. And where would I find these? And has any of the classics been prepped for e-readers (Like Tarbell)? thanks, jeff

Most magic books that I've come across are in pdf format and ebook readers don't handle this terribly well. I have a Sony, the 5" pocket-sized model, which supports "pdf reflow" so that you don't have to keep scrolling sideways, but ebooks vary enormously in how well this works. I have two by a certain well-known author which display perfectly well on my PC screen but go most peculiar when I read them on the Sony. On the other hand, some, like Switchcraft, work very well. If you're going to buy a reader, check that it supports reflow (as far as I know the Kindle doesn't) and get as large a screen as possible.

I love my old iPad with GoodReader for that job.

I have an iPad. I simply plop PDFs into iBooks and read them there. What is GoodReader?

GoodReader is the most versatile and powerful pdf reader available for iOS, Cameron!
Its ease of use and constant improving makes it a winner in my book...

Like Mindmagic I opted for a Sony ereader, mainly because it can handle pdf's so well. Never had any problems reading the material, seeing the graphics etc. And another bonus is I have Jose Prager's Liebrary on it so I can perform a very convincing ebook test using one of the many ebooks that come with the effect.

There is a app for the iPad called Bluefire Reader that works when some others may not.

I love Goodreader on the iPad. You can resize the page to cut out white borders and maximize the reading area, make annotations directly into the PDF and a lot more. And, yes, the developer is constantly improving it.

I agree with Nicolino and bug jack. Goodreader is the most comprehensive PDF reader for iPad. Even the new Kindle I just bought doesn't render all PDFs equally well. If you have an iPad and like to view PDFs then pick up Goodreader. You won't be disappointed.

I have been running my Toshiba Thrive, which runs Honeycomb. I use ezPDF Reader and have NEVER had an issue viewing any PDF...ever. BTW-I run this on my LG Thrill Phone as well, and even though I don't view PDFs on that device no where near as much as on the tablet, I again have never had an issue.
I have viewed PDFs which were created in Acrobat, FoxitPro, and just exported from Word, Excel, Pages and Numbers and again no issue on the tablet. Admittedly I haven't used the stock viewer all that much, pretty much have always used ezPDF. |

Goodreader also works extremely well on the iPod Touch.
I've had Goodreader for at least 4 years and I have many magic books on the iPod Touch in PDF format and they all work very good with Goodreader in Reflow formet. All the best Michael |

If you are going to use the reader outside your own home, don't forget to consider the batteri life time. The color screen of an iPad (or an other tablet) uses many times more power than the e-ink screen of a dedicated monocrome ebook reader.

I own a nook but hate PDF's on it, I personally read them on my HP touchpad (basically an iPad). In the portrait (tall) mode it is almost like holding a book! Granted only one page at a time and inconvenient for flipping back and forth but nice when travelling.
