On my iPad, the June 2012 issue is showing, but says "Issue unavailable". Does anybody else have this?

I've seen this message for a few days now and have assumed it was a tech issue and at some point the issue would be available. But, so far, not. Are you guys subscribers or single issue purchasers? Are subscribers seeing this too?

I too have this issue. But I thought it might be deliberate - a new policy attempting to get non-subscribers to buy the print issue, if they're going to. Although maybe that doesn't make sense, if the profit margin is much higher on the digital edition. Then again, there are probably plenty of tech costs with a digital edition that might be comparable in size for a magazine with a relatively low circulation.

What do others think - deliberate policy?

Those iPad editions are not cheap to produce. I'm sure they want to sell them, so I don't think it's about making people buy the print issue. (If it were, why have a digital edition in the first place? The MAGIC app isn't an add-on to a print subscription, like Genii's -- it's its own product.) I assumed it was just a tech glitch, but then I wondered whether it was just not available to single-issue digital subscribers. If you go to the ITunes App Store, the June issue shows up as Magic's top download this month, so seem people seem to be getting it.

It's funny -- Magic recently did a series of columns giving magicians advice on staying in touch with their fans on social networks... but they themselves are pretty aloof when it comes to talking directly to readers about things like this.

It's surprising there is no indication there is a problem on the Magic website, nor have there been any emails regarding this -

Answer. Deleted the app and reloaded it and the latest edition became available.

Smart. Didn't think of doing that.

Be warned - that will require downloading all your previous purchases again, which might be time consuming for those who bought a lot of issues and have a slower connection.

Seems like this is a bug. Magic magazine should have put a fix into the iTunes Update section, and in a way that avoids requiring us to reload already purchased issues.

Deleting and reloading worked for me as well. It's definitely a bug with Magic's app...I have subscriptions to a dozen or so magazines on the iPad and I've never seen this happen before.

The August issue downloaded with no problems for me (although I'm running the iOS 6 beta, which may make a difference).

I deleted the app and then re-downloaded it.

I can now download (again) previously purchased issues.
It's working fine, it's just time consuming and I lost all the articles I had marked as "favorites".

Must be a bug in the system.

I take screenshots of the articles I like (Home button + Sleep button) and then assemble the screenshots into PDFs using Preview on the Mac (there are free apps for Windows that will let you do the same thing). That way I don't have to dig through issues to find them later.
