Thanks for taking the time to explain all of that Kevin - it says a lot! Ditto what Atom and Bambu said.

I bought the DVD and I hav to say that honestly, the dubbing was not exactly as bad as how I may come across here. I could understand everything being said, though it is not 100% clear. Other than that this is great material with some interesting ideas that gave me much to think about. I initially bought the DVD just for the vanish but the 3 coin production and use of sound was quite interesting too.

360, thanks for youre feedback. I had a nightmare yesterday about it not selling, and my fear of people not liking my job. I'm surprised genii gave it such a mediocre review. I encourage you to find the easter egg with ponta the smiths version of the vanish.

Any hint where I can find it? I honestly think it's interesting material and if anyone is interested in coins, it's always refreshing to see new presentation styles.

@360: The Easter Egg can be found on the sub menu with the telephone in it. As for the rest of your statement above, I completely agree! I have already started using some of the material from this disc in my coin sets to great effect.

I've shown Mott-Sun's vanish to some friends who knew of Ponta's vanish from his DVD, Sick, they all thought it was the same method until I started rotating my hands and they were stunned, haha they couldn't figure out where the coin went.

360, your post reminded me of something I do:
Why not do Ponta's method and do mott-sun in one trick? Do ponta's vanish as before, except as the coin goes (and using momentum) turn the wrists palm up. The coin should then be in position for Mott-sun's method/hold I don't know if you meant you did it this way too or just did Mott-sun's verison. But I found this verison to be superior to both. Because the palms face the audience, like ponta's vanish, then are facing up (palms and wrists facing upward like to the ceiling) like in mott-sun's vanish at the end of the vanish. This way, you can go into mott-sun's display and produce it any way you'd like. Never really shared this idea with anyone, I've recorded myself doing it a few times, but not good enough yet at it. Just some food for thought. |

Hmm... That's interesting, but I do Mott-sun's hold in my left hand, while Ponta's vanish is done in my right hand. So if I understand you correctly, it means that I'll have to do Mott-sun's hold in my right hand now? If that's so, then it would require some feat of great ambidextrosity that I don't currently posses, haha But it's definitely some food for thought, oh yes and I found the Easter egg, all I have to say is WOW, to get it to that level of smoothness is unbelievable.

Yes... I can do this but doing mottsuns part in addition I haven't mastered yet. It would give better angles to pontas vanish for sure, while looking similar . Glad you found pontas guest appearance

I've been playing around with your idea, the main problem I have is getting the coin to 'lock' into the hold because now you can't press the coin down. Extremely knacky move, but very deceptive if it's possible to get it down consistently.

I'm pretty impressed you've got it down so well. Ponta's vanish and Mott-sun's vanish are both really hard. Even Ponta said he can't do Mott-sun's vanish, he says he is a freak of nature in the way his hands work.
Of course it's possible. I have the same issue. I do ponta's vanish with my right hand too. You could do 2 things: 1) Practice only placing the coin 2) Repeat until it becomes automatic And eventually, just like the harada hold, you can do it by just placing the coin there. I know its hard. Heck, I've been practicing Lawrens Godon's routine A.V.A, a coin routine where a morgan is muscle passed to harada hold. I can do that perfectly! The problem is placing it ... still have huge problems with that after a year of practice. Of course making it as smooth as Lawrens is another feat in itself. Or, there's always option No.2 You can keep the hand you're great at doing Mott-sun's vanish trick with, but just learn to do Ponta's vanish really well with your OTHER hand. Couldn't be simplier. yep. Easy. Yep. That's option 2! Which do you prefer? Heh, sorry, I had to. I couldn't imagine learning it all over in my other hand again. It took me long enough so long...so much practice to be able to do ponta's vanish without thinking, it took 5 months before I could even get it there once in every 20 tries... it was quite a process and pain to learn. I still drop it too much sometimes. |

I was actually focussing on Ponta's vanish but once I saw Mott-sun's vanish I found it to be more 'consistent' because with Ponta's vanish it becomes quite risky when the environment is not agreeing wih you, while Mott-sun's requires no sliding But it really will be a killer vanish if someone can pull this off, the combo of the two.

Hi OZ, thanks for your question! I think it was just meant to explain how the DVD would be taught. All the people who worked on this project really worked on making a clear teaching video for audiences of ANY language, which is is new for french drop really, as this is after first DVD in English and Voice Audio (in the performances). I don't know why english audio wasn't made for the explanations , however they are very clear. I think the trailer was trying to say all this, just condensed.

I got the dvd a while ago and I had no idea it had something extra on it... I found the submenu with the telephone but I don't know what to do with it, someone mind giving me a hand?
I hope you understand, my dear friend, that everything you are seeing is a lie, but everything you are feeling holds true.
