"First and foremost I want to thank Luke Dancy, Criss Angel and Joe Devlin for The Devlin Dollar, I've been working with this effect for a few days now and it's the Best Visual Bill change I have ever performed! the Reactions I get from people just blows them away!!! If you're a beginner or a working professional I highly recommend this effect to anyone..... Best wishes, The Magic of David jowers"

Devlin Dollar is a great effect and a clever method for a classic effect in closeup magic.

Magic is in the mind of the spectator, not in the magician's eyes. focus on entertaining your audience in whatever venue you are performing and if you don't perform, get off the Café and go out there

My wife saw the show a few months ago when she was out there for a business conference. The ticket lady even warned her about the show, telling her that many people were very disapointed. No...I don't think I need to see what has been reviewed as the worse show on the stip to know that it's terrible, but thanks for the offer. That is very kind of you.

I think that I have enough magic knowledge (38 years of learning magic to date, teaching magic, doing magic in restaurants, translating complete catalogue of magic, been many times consultant for big illusions shows, specialized in close-up magic and had my own magic store) to make the difference between BS and real value! And I'd like to add that I consider myself a purist and I'm proud of it! But, when I see a bunch of video editing and stooges effects, I consider that like a low budget B-movie! You are so desperate to prove your THE next big thing since the big-bang that you judge peoples you don't even know personally! THIS is sad!

Ho, and BTW, NOBODY EVER force Chris Angel to do 6 seasons of whatever you want to call it! He wanted to do those 6 seasons, WELL, BUT IF YOU CANNOT STAND THE HEAT, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN AND LET SOMEONE ELSE DO THE SAUCE!! If he didn't had enough material (or talent!) to do what he tried to do the right way, he should have done something else. And before you accuse me of being jealous, Let me tell you that everywhere I go and meet magicians, at least 95% of these guys and ladies make fun of Chris Angel! A friend of mine who went to Vegas and pay big bucks to see his show was so disappointed that he told me it was like paying someone to loose your precious time! He said it was ridiculous and that it was the worst show (all arts included) he ever saw!

Now the Devlin Dollar... For me a great effect is when the spectator can EXAMINE the bill after the transformation! A good old bill switch with a TT IS A GREAT EFFECT! I have never been called by someone for my TT (and I did it hundreds of times)! Of course I know how to use it, and it's a Vernet plastic one at only $3.00. Do the world needs another bill switch? Don't know, but I know that once the transformation takes place you better let someone take a close look to your bill or you risk of being compare to Chris Angel!...

As for your invitation to buy me a ticket, I'd rather go to the dentist, I'll never loose precious time to see a "mindfreak" trying to prove he's got talent! Even "Cirque du Soleil" failed to do something good with him! So, stop judging peoples and begin to listen to what they say, they cannot ALL be wrong at the same time for the same subject!

Hoping that you stop pronouncing judgements like you did about my "knowledge" (because it's bad business!!) I wish you to consider a new approach with those who disagree with you!

Last year the Paper Crane crew went and saw Criss's show and had a great time. It's a great show. I know it had a rocky start but now I think you will find it's much better.

Wow, Taiga...

You are clearly wound up. It seems there is a lot of malcontent here, all directed towards Criss. I have my theories on why this is so, but that is neither here nor there; this thread is SUPPOSED to be about the Devlin Dollar.

I think many here are throwing the baby out with the proverbial bathwater. Because MagicPlace is associated with Criss, it seems some people are immediately dismissing the work of the other magicians working on the project. Joe Devlin is a sweetheart of a guy, and crazy talented; the Devlin Dollar is but one example of this. I do strongly believe that those who take the time to digest the Devlin Dollar, and all the handlings & variants will be pleased with what they learn. The effect is unlike any other out there; a no folds single bill transformation. It looks awesome. In fact, it looks just as good live as it does on camera, and not many effects can make that claim.

I would just like to see this thread stay on course, and let the product speak for itself.

Lastly, on a sidenote...

It truly saddens me to see the ambiguity offered by the internet imbues some people with omniscience, and the ability to have opinions on products and shows they have not had first hand experience with, and the testicular fortitude to voice these often times ill-formed opinions as if they were fact. But you know what I'm gonna say...

Haters gonna hate.

To everyone else; love you guys!

I need to get ahold of this today or tomorrow, as I'll be traveling for a week starting Tuesday and want to have this with me to practice a bit. I'm speaking at a business group and want to use this to make a point and entertain a little.

Is there any way I could purchase this as a download, or even just discuss the method with someone once I purchase so I can construct my own?

Sean, thanks! I just purchased. Watching your "ill-switch" now. Would you mind PM'ing me with info on the Devlin Dollar? If so, let me know what you want for proof of purchase. Many thanks Smile

I agree, the Devlin Dollar getting a bad rap because of Criss Angel/MagicPlace. OK, I couldn't watch the show...I erased it. However, I think this effect deserves a fair review. In the demo he drops the hundred on the ground. Does that imply examineability?

I have "Sinful", and it's endorsed by Criss Angel, and it's one of the best effects I do! Guys, I don't think the man and "the trick" should get painted with the same brush...know what I mean? Smile

I purchased yesterday, and really need someone to fill me in on the method so I can build the gimmick today before I leave on my business trip, where I want to use this. Obviously, the shipment will not reach me in time. Can anyone help? I'll be happy to provide proof of purchase. Many thanks!

Well...
It's been nearly a month, any actual reviews? Anyone using this with the hoi polloi?

I get almost everything released and I passed on this. I don't think the Magic Café is a good place to promote products with poor demos.

Their loss. If it was as good as they say, I'd have been posting everywhere how great it was. But to proclaim "The Most Visual Bill Change Ever!" and then show a promo for Rolls Royce, they lost me as a supporter.

For the record we spent a full afternoon with our production team and magicians over at the Luxor here in Las Vegas shooting live performances of several effects. We've heard the requests and will be including these moving forward to show that our releases truly do work out in the real world.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks for listening. Looking forward to the live demos. Please remember it's not a TV audience you're impressing, it's hobbyist Magicians ( that buy most of the magic released ).

This thing must be so good no reviews are necessary, hence, we talk about everthing else.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

Devlin is a hell of a guy. Met him in NY at Fantasma magic once. I'm sure his effect is awesome. I also agree with Sean, "Haters gonna hate". If you feel some sort of way towards one person, don't automatically shun every other person or effect associated with that person. Whether its ignorance, jealousy or personal reasons, just leave it alsone and worry about your own performances and success. Love him or hate him, Criss Angel is here to stay, so get used to it. I myself will be purchasing the Devlin Dollar sometime soon, especially since my good friend Eric Decamps has recommended it. Cheers to Magic Place and their artists. Thank you for this effect and the many others to come Smile

We had requests for a live On Location demo of the Devlin Dollar so here ya go! We didn't want you guys to think it was all just an ad for Rolls Royce afterall! We apologize that it took us this long to get the clip up but we are listening and will continue to do our best to give you, the consumer, what you want as we continue to grow as a company. http://magicplace.com/product/devlin-dollar

Thanks for the feedback!
