My wife is the balloon twister. Yesterday as we worked an outside company picnic she noticed that many of the kid's who had been playing on the many "inflated jumpy things" and when they got their balloon sculptures ,theybroke much faster and easily. Has anyone else noticed this,or is it our imagination? Thanks, Pattrick

Probably not your imagination. I know sometimes a charge builds up in my hands, and the balloons I am twisting start popping. So I take a break and wash my hands. the water takes the charge away and the balloons stop popping. Happened at a nightclub gig last night.

I've noticed sometimes when kids let their balloon touch the floor it will pop. Static can build on floor of a restaurant easily. I'm in a hot location and on an especially hot day I will tell them to be careful to not let their balloons touch the ground or the side of the car because those hot surfaces will make um pop. Static and heat, enemies of the balloon, lol.

I rub balloons on my hair and stick them to the floor or wall all the time. Sometimes kids balloon haats are static-y and their hair stands up. It's not the static that pops balloons it's dirt. And the dirt doesn't usually pop the balloon immedietly. If you used a microscope you would see little jagged pieces of dirt sticking to the balloon and "biting" into the balloon over and over until it pops. Come to think of it I suppose the static could attract more dirt and cause more popping. Hey I just changed my own mind while typing!
Still, I really don't static by itself causes balloons to pop. |

Static can cause a many number of issues. Mostly I just find it annoying and it makes my hair stick to my face. The best thing to do is have a couple dryer sheets stuffed in your bad. If you are feeling a bit sparky pull it out and rub your hands with it. Clears it up instantly.
