What do you guys think of the bubble zombie by Losander? I'm looking into getting it. |

I think it's a great effect. I really like his routine with it. I'm looking into getting some new material in my show and am looking into like props that are under $450/500. Do you guys know of any good effects? I'm doing shows in libraries. I usually have around 200 people come to the shows. So I would like something a little bigger.
Thanks for any tips Patrick |

I think Losander's Bubble Zombie is a beautiful effect, having seen it live several times. The instruction he gives on his DVD's is great.
However, after spending quite a few hours practicing some of his bubble levitation effects, I felt that the problem of drafts and keeping the bubble(s) under control was just too much to deal with, if I wanted an effect that I could reliably do in just about any venue. The unpredictability of air movement in different rooms, or even in the same room on different days made it very difficult for me to choreograph a routine. That's just my experience. I suggest emailing Losander directly. He's one of the nicest people I've met in the magic community.

Too many people think of Losander’s Floating Bubble as an effect by itself.
It is not, and if used that way is quite ineffective. The prop is a very small segment it a full bubble routine. As David said, the slightest interference in the room will ruin things. Even Losander says he’s developed almost a second-sense about when to do it or not. The air, temperature, lights, almost everything can affect the bubbles. He’s had great circumstances where an air-conditioner kicks in, and there goes the routine. On the other hand, it is an incredibly beautiful and magical presentation and worth mastering. But, please purchase another floating object if you just decide on a stand alone effect. Magically, Walt |

Personally, I rarely use the bubble zombie with an actual bubble. Too much to think about. I will sometimes use it as a bigger version as The Thing (Bill Abbot) or with a sponge ball of some sort.

After years of performing The Thing by Bill Abbott, I switched over to Losander's gimmick. It's larger and easier to see. Plus, the gimmick is very easy on the hands and results in perfect draping of the foulard every time. I do not do anything with the bubble at all. IMO, that part is too risky.
