... I didn't take it though, but it was an awesome feeling.
Here's what happened. Last Friday, I was at a restaurant with co-workers and after dinner, one of them asked me to do a card trick. So I after about three tricks, people from other tables were watching. By the end, which was the 6th card trick, the entire floor was up watching. Gasping, laughing and freaking out! One random guy was asking what I was drinking and bought me one. The owner of the restaurant came to see me and offered me a job. I told him that I wasn't a professional, but he said he didn't care cause I had the whole place captivated. I told him, my current work takes up a lot of my time. Plus I'll be getting married in a few weeks so I'll be gone for my honeymoon and then I have a few business trips. He gave me his card anyway and told me to reconsider. Now You See It (slightly modified from RRTCM) and Poor Man's Monte are two tricks that seem to always kill everyone and that night was no exception. Just thought I'd share with everyone. |

First, regardless of your business status, you gave a professional-quality show. You can rock a crowd, something many who get money for this can't do.
Second, you might reconsider, if even for one or two nights a month. Make it an exchange for free dinners for you and your wife. The experience of bringing your material in front of real people and working out the kinks is priceless. You need to do that anyway to take a routine to the next level - why not get something for it? In any case, great job!! Ed |

Hey, if I were you, I would at least try to work something out even if it is a small deal. Try what Ed said above--work a few times a month for free meals. You'll still get practice, experience, and future job offerings plus some free meals.

I f you decide to take it work for money. You can spend it on meals at a restaurant of your choice (or whatever). Start on a free meals basis and you risk that all anyone will ever offer you in that town as restaurant magician is free meals. My thought is don't set your value too low.
That's not to say I don't do free magic. I need the practice in front of real people.....so I do charity and church shows (small ones not the big ones that have an entertainment budget) and I have started busking.....which can be free (spectator's choice). Just an idea. Congratulations again! |

Thanks for the advice guys!
Yeah, it really is a great feeling. I didn't think about the free meals idea or even seeing if I could do it a couple of times a month. Maybe I'll think about it and give him a call. |
