I really like the idea! Very neat.
What I'd like to know is compared to a normal tuck case and a metal deck shell, how durable is the gimmick that makes it work? If it breaks down or wears out, is it something we could build ourselves, or would it be something you'd probably just have to buy again? |

Stucky, I doubt it.

Also there really isn't "real moving" parts so to speak that could break due to some sort of wear and tear. I guess it would be actually rather easy to make more of em or repair one if you just could get hold of proper type of plastic. Actually this might be the way to make it little more easier to use by making it few millimeters bigger so you woudnt have to be so precise with it J-M |

That's what I was hoping to hear! Even if I end up not finding it something I use in regular performance, I can still see myself playing with it from time to time or using it in other instances. This just looks like too much fun to pass up. They might say it is a deadly weapon and not a toy on the demo video, but to me it looks like both!

I bought this at Magic-Con 2012 for the man himself, it is beautiful, and even more beautiful in his hands. I love playing around with this. You would think the discrepency would be crazy obvious but it really flys past everyone.

I am sure the discrepancy will be overlooked by almost everyone. Being a magician, I see what the average spec may not. I was amazed how obvious it was to me. Let me pick up the loose cards and voila, now the box is in my hand and the cards I picked up are sitting on the table.
I am also wondering how you get to that position. Just doing the move is one thing, but I'm interested in watching a full routine/effect to see how it is introduced and setup in front of people. |

Hi Guys,
I have read some of these comments in the Magic Café, about The Cooler. I truly believe that this is one of the best and EASIEST deck switches ever devised. There is no special skill needed to handle the Cooler. I think the person who found the Cooler to be difficult to learn, has not had the added advantage of the tutorial DVD that accompanies the Cooler, now a days. Those who bought the Cooler, as a pre-release, had to cope without a DVD. Still the movements are fairly straight forward and should not require much more than 5 minutes to half an hours practice. The performer is however expected to have the know how to accoplish a minimal amount of misdirection during the switch, as this will greatly enhance the effectiveness of the move. As for my errors with the Cooler, when demoing... Some thoughts on it, I was probably showing one of the many possible ways to do the switch (possibly in the hands), even though I was more familiar with the table switch, but more importantly, because of those “errors”, I was able to see where the problem lied, and was able to improve The Cooler (by thickening the walls of the Cooler) in such a way that the mistake that occasionally could happen, because of carelesness, is now next to impossible to occur. In short, some product improvement has been made, as well as the making of the DVD that now comes with the Cooler aids in helping all hopeful deck switchers accomplish their dream deck switch. As for the persons who bought the Cooler before there was a DVD, Dani DaOrtiz now sells the 35 min long video for 10 euros on his web site. The link is below. It isn’t free because Dani has had some costs from the making of the DVD. It also wasn’t part of the deal for the pre-released Coolers. All new buyers however, will get the DVD with their Cooler. http://www.grupokaps.com/kapsstore/produ......escargas I hope this clears some things up for you all, and I wish you all the best, Christian Engblom |

Vanishing Inc. distributes it through various dealers. Soon...

Is the DVD that Dani sells the same one that will be sold with the gimmick through Vanishing Inc?

I bought the original version of the cooler (thinner walls, no DVD). I had difficulty nailing the move. I never conquered it.
Does anyone think it's worth investing in the DVD given that the gimmick has now been modified? In particular does the DVD describe how to ring in the cooler from a pocket?

@Jamie Ferguson
I have no idea if I have the "older" or "newer" model but I got mine sometime in the spring from Finnish dealer and it came without the DVD so I assume mine is older one as well. I later puchased the video from DaOrtiz webshop and it made using the gimmick little easier to understand. Sadly, at least in my case (dont speak spain) you cant get the video file to your computer. You can just watch it by logging into Kaps store. A spanish friend of mine checked thru the shop as well and didn't find download link. The video there is around 30min lenght. It explains the gimmick, how to use it, how to camoflage it to different card designs, what designs work well and so on. Video also had 3 or 4 routines, few of em had some really sneaky thinking in em. Also the gimmick can be used to switch stuff in the hands and also on the table. The video also covers how to ring in the cooler from pocket. That said the solution isn't really "easy" and it requires little "something" that might put some people off. I personally thought that it would be easier to just rap few rubber bands around the gaff and use em in routine like crazy mans handcuffs and therefore taking em off the gaff openly.... If only the gimmick was few millimeters larger so you woudnt have to be so perfect with it in order not to mess up but this might be the problem of the earlier model and fixed in the versions currently in the market.
