Hi everyone, found this site while researching tko 2.0, seems a lot of good info here, enough to keep me occupied for a few million years by the looks of it
I am not new to magic, but havent really had anything to do with it for the past 5 years, just getting back into it now, but I'm looking more into production of tricks/props now. I don't see myself as a performer anymore, not regular anyway, I'm happy with the occasional impress the girls in the clubs rather than planned events. anyway, I am in the middle of creating a card trick based around a very simple move I use all the time. I'm just perfecting it for slow mo action which in the mirror looks very impressive if I do say so myself, but its still a long way off yet. I have also created a magic trick where google will guess your card. although I need to update it as google has changed its layout..... I offer the trick for free, if someone could point out where id post it on this site id be happy to get feedback, and id like to see what routines people can come up with for it, its a very nice trick which takes no time to setup or reset! anyway, thanks guys shlonk |

Welcome SHLONKY,
I'd wait till you have 50 posts in the Magic Fora and offer it in Secret Sessions. Several fora will open to you in the Banquet room (clear at the bottom) after 50 Magic posts. You could also offer a link to the explanation to folks who PM you in the forum that is closest to the type effect you are offering. Please do not give away secrets in the Fora as The Magic Café is an open site and there are Non-Magicians who come here. It is a very kind offer. -Mary Mowder |

Welcome to the Magic Café! Your screen name (SHLONKY) is clever. What's the history behind that name?

Hi,
thanks hoodrat.. the name has been used by me for around 5 years, the history was quite simple... but then turned into something better than I expected.. basically I needed a new screen name for an online poker website, and spent about 20 mins getting the old "this username is taken" ... so I figured id invent a word..and out my head pops "SHLONK" (for some reason I always tend to invent words that start with SH)... I tried it and it worked .. (i thought that was the end of it) ..... then on the site someone asked me what it meant... I said "nothing"...but then they came back with a link to the urban dictionary which presented me with something that would mean I continued to use "sholnky" for probably the rest of my life... heres what the urban dictionary says... ================ shlonky 92 up, 10 down A born loser. The word originates from and is comprised of the two words 'Shlong' and 'Donkey'. Look at that shlonky wearing a button-down dress shirt with sweatpants. ================= that instantly made me laugh. Ive always been into some kind of entertainment (wether it be comedy or magic or anything that will impress) and my extreme laid back approach to life has always ended up with people telling me "youl never be anything, your too stupid, your a waste of life"...blah blah...personally I don't care what people think...i own my own business, nothing worrys me, I don't have to wake up at 6am to go work, and I can spend as much time with my kids as I want, while the ppl who prefer to dissaprove of this, work there lives away with seemingly no happiness! ....i guess its more a case of jellousy? or hatred for the fact that I was born with "the gift of the gab" and use it to my advantage. I don't usually go into so much detail when people ask what shlonky means, I usually just state the urban dictionry part, then blow them away with a trick or something. But I'm glad you asked, the name has a more personal meaning than I ever expected.... it also taught me that even though id made up the word, it doesn't mean someone else already hasnt!! I hope that was satisfactory enough |
