Yes, the hat I've had since I stepped back into magic 7 years ago, is starting to look a little bit grubby. Over the years, I've searched for another with, with no luck. I recall, I bought it from some place in the US, via the internet. May even have been the big auction site. I'd given up hope of finding another one, until I saw a clip of Bizarro on one of the Penguin things recently, and he has the IDENTICAL hat!
So, question is, anyone point me in the right direction, aprt from contacting Bizarro himself, and asking him " I'd like a hat like YOURS - can you tell me where you got it? Can't do it. It's just too PAINFUL! I paid $15.00 for it, new. It's cheaply made, and impossible to dry clean, apparently. But - I'm still looking for one... Tks!

Have you googled red felted fedora hat?
That's what it looks like in the photo. The hat in your avatar is the one you are looking to replace, right? They seemed to have a lot of good options. Searching for costume parts that feel the same as the old one can be frustrating. Good luck! You may want to call a Hat Shop and see if your hat can be cleaned and blocked. -Mary Mowder |

Mary,
I've spent LOT of time googling.. and as a result, I have another two similar, but of better quality. Oddly, I'm not comfortable with them - I much prefer my cheapo. I have friends who are milliners, but they make proper hats, not these cardboard and horsehair things like mine!. They advised me to just sponge it down... dry cleaners won't look at it - they reckon it'll fall apart at the glue seams.... I'll give it another try...haven't actually googled "red fedora hat" for a year or two... Thanks DCB

Obviously a lot depends on what you do with your hat (juggling, productions, etc.) I rehaped a Dube Triplewiehgt Derby into a Fedora shape as I like the added weright for some hat twirling. I also use my hat for a few magic routines: Sponge balls and coconut production, card fountain, etc.

Check out these guys for nice stage clothes at a reasonable price. I have bought a number of outfits from them over the past few years and have been happy with the product and their service. I am only a satisfied customer of theirs and have not other affiliation with them.

Looking for a real cheapo, costume hats are the way to go.
Googling “gangster hat red” I found something like this http://www.amazon.com/Rhode-Island-Novel......02J6AHA6 Nevertheless, I would prefer a „real“ hat. When felt feels too heavy, straw might be an option to try. Good luck hunting |

Got one, thanks! Ordered online on the 9th... Arrived today, and is just wondrous! Perfect fit, nice quality for a cheapo hat - just a little bit of shaping needed, but that's normal. Looks just like my original, but better quality.
Can't believe the speed of the delivery, from Poland..to Ireland..4 days..which is how it SHOULD be, but frequently isn't. Thanks to you all for your help! DCB

Speaking from experience buy another one and if you still like the hat in 6 mos. get another one after that.
