And after all of that, Potty and Zucchini walk in to a bar. It was a salad bar, because that's the only place they will serve a Zucchini (ba-dum tish). Whilst ordering a drink Potty asks the bartender "Do you have any helicopter flavoured potato chips?" The bartender shakes his head and says, "No, we only have plane." (ba-dum tish) - Thank you, Thank you very much.

I have never understood why anyone takes anything too seriously on a magic forum. I never have and never will. Come to that, I don't take life itself very seriously. I just enjoy myself! This is why I believe I have been a successful children's entertainer for 50 years. Children don't take life very seriously. I am really just a kid at heart, and don't believe in growing up. I shall always live my Peter Pan existence while the world around me is at war!!! I encourage others on here to try this approach to life! JR

Sounds like good old Rule 62....Don't take your self to sewiously.
I take my job seriously and myself lightly. I do the same with so called hecklers. If it is adding to the show...it doesn't matter where it comes from. This includes: audience members, people walking through, sounds over the intercom and noise from outide the event. Harris still 2 old to know it all

This just in from Potty on the sister thread. Thanks Potty - works for me. I do apologise, Zuke, and retract most of what I have said in the past few pages. Do you think I was making a personal attack? I really wasn't doing that, at least, at first. I was trying to offer you some helpful advice, which was about your work, not about you. But you came across to me as ungrateful, unwilling to listen, and I must admit I did find it insulting. I'm sorry that on this occasion, I did lose my temper, which is unusual for me. It was a very long weekend, this is the start of "silly season", kids are back at school, and the schedule is punishing. I'm not prepared to offer an unreserved apology. Instead, I will give you one last piece of "meta-advice", and I promise it will be the very last time I will be so presumptious, to offer advice about performing: When someone criticises your show, don't take it personally. Don't get angry, upset, pompous, or let your ego flare up. Instead, ask for detail. That's where the Devil lies. If you don't like the advice, you can always ignore it. But if you do, you can act on it. How will you know if someone has good advice for you, if you never listen? I would like to state categorically, that I think you are a truly wonderful, considerate person in many ways. Your charity work and charisma are absolutely magnificent qualities. (Yes, I have bothered to read up on you. I would only do that, if I actually liked someone. I got to like you the last time we argued, because we both like a good slanging match!) As a Human being, you are exemplary, and I would always be honoured to consider someone like you my friend. And, as far as I'm concerned, you are still my friend, but we really will have to agree to differ about our work. Doug Potty the Pirate Sussex Magician |

Geez! I just re-read the past couple of pages of this thread, and I am so sorry, Zuke. I had completely forgotten how to communicate with you!
We already pretty much went through all of this. In real life, I'd have remembered. But as this is all in a kinda twilight zone, the detail of what occurred had escaped me. And, the Devil is in the detail. I should have re-read this thread before I considered posting my first comment on that other thread. Ha ha! Now I'm reminded of the way that you and I can relate sensibly. You are a tricky character to deal with; and as my mate Muhtadi once said to me: "Douggie, you ain't easy!" Ironically, I'm the easiest-going guy you ever met. But, we all have our Achilles' Heel. I'd forgotten important details...specifically, your Achilles' Heel. I think this latest debacle has been extremely productive, however. Writer's post on the previous page is one of the most insightful posts I've ever read here, or on any forum; and JR's post above, demonstrates a profound depth of intelligence, and awareness. Indeed, the spiritual nature, of both these contributors is pretty evident. We will go forward, and entertain the World's kids. And, I hope we will do so as well as we possibly can. Doug |

Consider this perspective from Shaquille O'Neal. Then ask yourself if you should be offering any advice to Zucchini on a forum. |

The point he was making was that it doesn't make any sense for Shaq not to be able to play because of injuries and then suddenly as soon as he's traded from a bad situation, he's all healthy and claiming he's going to win them a title. Shaq's just a big baby who still hasn't grown and took a **** on a man who had *legitimate* injuries that plagued his career. Shaq should look up what a hypocrite means, because he clearly has no idea." ;) |

I confess, I did not read that comment below the video - I usually don't because I do not know the person leaving them and they are often off base. I think most would look at Walton as a jealous man who let his jealousy get in the way of his objectivity.

I guess it comes down to how much you're taken in by the illusion of "celebrity". So, to say "most" would see it that way, is to imply that most people are ignorant. But, they're not. It just comes down to fools, who follow fools. Those people are in a minority, and the majority see sense. |

Perhaps this additional piece of the puzzle will better inform on why most will see Walton to appear jealous and small. Some may find facts and accomplishments to be "illusion of celebrity" while others admire it and try to learn from it when provided the opportunity. The idea of this being termed "fools who follow fools" I believe is a minority opinion.

The rant was from Shaq. The sensible observation, which any rational person could understand, was by Walton. Shaq may, possibly, have actually believed the ranting nonsense that he spouted. But, far more likely, he was trying to evade the issue. By ranting, he simply avoided answering the question.
Sounds familiar. ;) |
