It's varrora mites that caused this false diagnosis, and not treating the apiaries correctly. This was discovered in 2008 right after the first fallout in 2006 with Jim in FL. Bees just up and abscond when mite overload happens. It's a proven fact. so RJ hows your bees? or were you a typical save the beehaver, a status symbol person..."I have beees"... hope not...most people since 2007 are wannabe beehavers and bee murderers. Buying bees to replace their untreated bees after they kill them with bee diseases due to Varrora Mite overload in Aug/Sept and in Oct Nov they are dead gone. sad... myself I manage 740 colonies, and have 400 nucs going into this winter. We harvested 47 tons of honey this year. Sold 1200 Queens, and 1100 nucs. and my winter losses are less than .01% for which I am Proud. typical due to winter cold and winter colony dead outs. Takes a lot to be a BeeKeeper
