Yes another brilliant move by our mayor to destroy our city. The Coney Island Boardwalk is world famous (well, okay, I have a cousin in Jersey who's heard about it) and to replace the wood with concrete is idiotic.

IMHO it is a very lame empty boardwalk. After you have a hot dog, ride the roller coaster you can get on the train and go back home.

Sounds like the 'world famous' (?) historic part would be preserved ...

http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/35/......_bk.html

"The Parks Department proposed replacing the entire Boardwalk with concrete and plastic lumber in 2010 as part of its $30-million renovation of the aging 2.7-mile span, which opened in 1923. Only a small four-block section in the historic amusement district between W. 15th and W. 10th streets would be spared from the concrete makeover, which Parks Department officials said was sturdier and cheaper than using real wood."
Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.

"Underneath the Concrete" just doesn't cut it as a sexy song title.

But 'Under the Concrete' does sound a bit better. Smile

(Actually is sounds a bit like a Mafia song.)

LOL Steve, ROTFLMAO.

By the way, Jimmy Hoffa, if anyone in interested is buried in the Brendan Byrne arena (Don't know what they are calling it these days) but I once sat near him at a Grateful Dead concert.

Serously, I would rather see steps taken to preserve the small amusement park, fairway and sideshows of my youth. I think concrete or asphalt would be a mistake.

I've always loved this song, but I've been "under the boardwalk," it's nasty down there.
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say.
"Catch your dreams before they slip away."
"Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you could lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?"
