Was just talking about dubbing my Aunt's music tapes and I realized we don't do that anymore. We burn CD's now.
We went from dub to burn and nobody noticed. How many other words has this happened to?

I don't know if itb is regional but when teaching my nephews to make change I said "now give three singles" and none of them ever heard that word.
I told a worker who was upset about something minor to "shine it on" and she called me a geezer. |

I'm still a little surprised -- pleasantly surprised -- that you can still organize songs by "album" in iTunes.
FWIW, Santa, I'm 35 years old and "now give three singles" doesn't seem strange to me. |

It doesn't sound strange to me, but I also don't hear it much.

Don't forget the cool dude that drove a cherry 'A' roaster channeled over boxed and Z'ed deuce rails. Runnin' a boared out '48 flatty with a stroked Mercury crank, ported and polished with Lincoln valves, with a three-quarter webber cam and four 97's on a log manifold. Everything hooked to a'39 box with Zepher gears and a quick change . White Tejawna tuck & roll, Banjo wheel and '37 Cord dash with Stewart Warner instruments . Everything topped of with 2 gallons of Oldsmobile fiesta red.

I remember when I got my first DVD player saying: "Rewind it so we can take it back."

Never used the earplug much, just held the little radio right up to my head.

The title of this thread concerned slang, not merely ideas that have become archaic.

But I still use half of these. And I've gotten a few of my teen-age music students using "Groovy". I'm bringing it back, man. But just to show I'm still hip (used to be hep) I now use "Bazinga" often too.
