I read in the Café that manufacturers who hold the rights to Dick Zimmerman's MPS are Wellington and Malloy ONLY

Is that true?

Cos I also read elsewhere that, the prediction chest that works that way is NOT exclusive to Malloy/wellington.

There are many many out there that do it...so many like the one sold by Mak Magic(USA), Fairchild Magic, Tim clothier..& many names on MPS such as Future Prediction Chests, Master Prediction Chest, Revelation Prediction Chest & many many more

There are also some from China/Asia made..with no clear tube in it...just an envelope retrive from the chest.

Frankly I am very confused & at the same time & respect the creator & will try to buy only original & not rip off prop

So I hope someone can advise me if this item is really a public domain, with or without the large, clear-plastic container..or just an envelope version..

E.G if really Dick hold all the rights...what IF I buy a prediction cheats...but is envelope form & NOT Clear tube container from Dick. is this still considered as a rip off?

Thanks for any feedback Smile

Only Malloy & Wellington have the rights to build the Zimmerman version using the clear tube container. (Bill Smith also had the rights and he was the first to market these but has since been too busy building illusions)
The version using an envelope instead of a tube is simular to the zimmerman version but not the same so not sure if this is considered a rip-off or not?
However the things that makes the Zimmerman version better that the 'other' versions is that the tube fills the box & is to big to hide somewhere while an envelope is flat...
I would go for the original, much stronger and more deceptive!

Prediction Chests have been around for years, it has to do with the props and method more then the name Prediction Chest. If a trick is copied exactly, then it is a "rip-off", other then that it may be considered a different version.

One should think about the effect as well, it makes little sense to have a huge chest, and only remove an envelope from it. That would be better to use one of the many envelope inside a sealed envelope methods.

Yep, Prediction Chests are all over the place, but it's the whole package in the Zimmerman routine that makes it what it is. The rights to make the product as Dick created it are just the folks named. Best,
