Some early info on a new Spirit Lamp from Outlaw -- I believe a bit more will be revealed in their summer newsletter. It's my understanding that the 1915 inventor was not driven by a desire to contact the spirit world, but rather he was a man of science trying to harness ambient electricity as a power source. But science is full of unexpected discoveries....

Here's a very rough image of it. I'm sure Rick will follow-up with more info in due course.

You have to love those accidental discoveries...

Ever watch that PBS show Connections and Connections 2? We should start the Bizarre Connections thread.... hosted by Cogliostro

Its nice to have a noiseless option for the cool Outlaw spirit devices... and it can add very cool light ambience... and then sound aspects could be devoted to gimmicked PK EMF detectors

Etherica in the dark. Unlike any S.L. seen before. No batteries were used by the scientist. It was powered off pure ambient electricity. Resonating antenna's, Tesla style. Circa 1910

Had several questions I'll answer here. Etherica is quite small. It comes in an aged 6x6x6 inch wood box. The base of the device is 4.5 x4.5 inches square and 1/2 inch thick. The height to the top of the antenna is 7 inches. It is assembled in front of the spectators.

Very creepy. I may have to break my promise not to order any thing else from
Outlaw until my other stuff is finally shipped!

I did too. I love this piece, but my only concern is, spectators may tend to think of gimmic*s and tricky stuff once you start using technology like a lamp for an effect.

Yes! Perhaps an object such as a ring, earring, lucky coin, etc. belonging to the dearly departed. Placing the object on the mid-horizontal section helps to concentrate/direct the spirits energy, thereby facilitating the likelihood of getting enough spirit energy to power the light.

Try to load these again Smile

RCP very nice thinking. You could easily put a borrowed object on the dowel stabilizer shelf.

I see a locket with a picture in it placed on the shelf. After the seance/Q&A, the locket is opened and the picture is shown faded or perhaps with a ghostly image or message overlaid?

So, is it on/off or does the lamp fluctuate with the strength of the visitor?

Last weekend Richard Osterlind asked "when watching an intense movie if I thought about how the computer graphics are generated?" Food for thought......

It is hands free. The lamp will flicker, glow, go to full brightness, any combination. It uses some new tech that allows the user to literally pump the amount of power they want and the length of time into the light.

point taken. I still think that the strongest effects are the most direct and simple though, and usually that doesn't involve technology. usually
