Mike Gallo is also a musician. He bought a guitar on sale...no strings attached. He once tried to play during a tornado, but realized he was in the wind section. He joined a group, but they broke up when he hurt his finger doing his 50 karate coins trick. He broke his wedding ring during the trick, and the jeweler said he would try to get the band back together. To make matters worse, his dog swallowed the ring, which sported a big diamond. The Vet told him not to worry, he just had a diamond in the ruff. His wife felt bad and gave Gallo a watch, but he removed it because he just had too much time on his hands. His dog then ate the watch. The Vet removed it just in time, because the dog was full of ticks. But it was ok, since the dog was known around the neighborhood as a watch dog. It is clear that Mike Gallo IS the most interesting coin magician in the world. ..

Curtis is not only a fabulous coin magician but an absolutely decent fellow of the highest moral character. He once visited the Virgin Islands where he was absolutley apalled and shocked to witness another magician perform a coin magic routine called "open fly." They are now called just, The Islands.

He's a great guy. I mean Curtis won't even use chromosomes in his act even though he knows sex cells....

Curtis Kam is the best. In addition to magic, he even wrote a book on statistics. It was pretty graphic. He used to spend a lot of time at the library. Even though he was a great coin magician, he didn't mind reading. But did you know that Mike Gallo is quite the illustrator? He once worked at a hospital where he learned to draw blood. Once he was driving until he saw a sign that said, drawbridge ahead, so he stopped and made a sketch. He once illustated a connect the dots book, but he had to look it over for a spot check. Unfortunately he got into a bit of trouble for drawing graffiti on the side of a building. Even though he said he was innocent, you could read the writing on the wall. Actually, it was proven that he wouldn't ever draw on a building, but he did once draw on a street sign. After all, he had to draw the line somewhere. Gallo finally decided to act. He got a roll in a movie where he had to eat a hero sandwich. It was a bit part. He gave up.acting and returned to coin magic after his actor friend died. He was killed at the photo studio where he got his head shot.His wife wanted him to feel better, so she got him a globe for his bithday. It wasn't much, but it meant the world to him....yes, Mike Gallo IS the most interesting coin magician in the world!

Curtis is soooo adept with coins...he mastered Rubinstein's signature spellbound routine, Silver Lint...just to see what all the fuzz was about.

And there was a lot, no doubt! But oh, the Gallo...he once performed coins to an impossible location, when he put money into his savings account. He needed it to invest in a steak house. It was a risky investment, as there was a lot at steak. He took a lot of prime ribbing from his friends, who had to bone up on their magic to eat there. He served them on plates that were hidden at the White House for years. It was his secret service. He only had nine plates, though. He was sure there were more, which gave him a reason to contenplate. He later opened up a mobile bakery. Yes, he was rolling in dough. The bakery was filled with loaves of bread won by his wife in a cooking contest. Turns out she was the breadwinner in the family. With all that extra dough, he opened a chicken place on a wing and a prayer. He served wings and fingers. Once the coin guys stopped by and got into a food fight. Boy, was there a lot of finger flinging. Yes, Mike Gallo IS the most interesting coin magician in the world!

The magic of Curtis is flawless...always... but he once had a deliberately awkward moment on stage while performing one of his brilliant coin routines...just to see how it feels. And he admits that coin magic on DVD is a medium - because anything well done is rare! Yes, he is the most interesting coin magician in the world!

I agree, Curtis Kam is one of the best out there. I am told he once built a baseball field on a farm in Iowa. Kainoa Harbottle pleaded with him to just raise corn, but as you can see, he went against the grain. But Mike Gallo had his own field of dreams. He would go to the field and nap every day. Living in Buffalo was quite an experience for Mike. Once it snowed three feet. That was enough to fill a yard. Once Buffalo had SIX feet of snow. That was snow ridiculous! Of course, even with a blizzard in Buffalo, they keep the schools open. Everywhere else, if there is even a dusting they close the schools for snow apparent reason. Most people in Buffalo keep their money in a snow bank. With all that snow, Mike was encouraged to do his banking online. So he went to the bank and stood on line. The person at the window was not very helpful. Boy, he wanted to Teller off! All he did was ask for aloan, so everyone left. Then he walked into a bar along with two jokes. The jokes got into a fight, and everyone gathered around waiting for the punch line. Whenever Mike was around, there was trouble. Once two legs walked into a bar. They got into a fight as well, and tore each other limb from limb. Mike used to take his friends there all the time. Once two card guys walked into a bar with Mike, and again, got into a fight. One was decked. Fortunately no one was cut. guess he caught a break. Once Gallo walked into the bar with a friend on oxygen. His friend started arguing with another patron, so Mike told him to try to get alung. Mike bought him a drink, but the bartender had the audacity to put a slice of lemon on his drink. That guy was totally out of lime. Mike noted that bartenders and doctors are very much alike. They both get the alcohol before offering a shot. Gallo once asked the bartender to make his beer cooler. The bartender stared back with cold ice. Once he gave the bartender a 20 dollar bill, and received 20 singles back in return. That's what happens when you go to a singles bar. Mike Gallo saw all the singles and decided to get people together. He started a dating service for people whose last names started with N. It didn't make him a lot of money, but he really just wanted to make N's meet. When Gallo went home, he found out that his cleaning lady quit. Turns out she felt that grime doesn't pay. When she left, she secretly took the toupee of Mike's grandfather. Mike was very upset at the loss of a family hairloom. However, Gallo declined to press charges. Turns out her husband cleaned John Gotti's house. That's how he became a maid man. Mike once met the infamous Gotti, and asked him if he was really in waste management, or was that just trash talk. You gotta admit, Mike Gallo IS the most interesting coin magician in the world!

You know, Curtis Kam and Mike Gallo are two of the most respected coin magicians in the world. I mean Curtis shook hands with himself just to see what all the fuss was all about and I think Mike's mom has a tat that reads "son."

These guys are the most interesting coin magicians in the world. And Rubinstein is right there with them in expertise and soh acumen...patient guy, great teacher and never loses distemper.

It has been years since this was posted, but with Mike Gallo's sudden passing I thought it would be appropriate to make this topical for everyone's enjoyment and remembrance. Both Mike Gallo and Curtis Kam (also featured prominently in this thread) are special people and wonderful magicians. This thread is like an homage to both of them. Enjoy.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread, Doc. I can't wait to dive in and read. I'm really going to miss Mike. He's been a huge inspiration to me and was always so kind to me when we were together as you and David were as well.

Forgot about this ....Kind of ironic ...and very appropriate for two good men who happened to be two titans of coin conjuring!

Hi cperkins! This was my favorite thread ever, and I am happy how it immortalizes both Gallo and Kam. Hard to believe they are gone. The magic world is a much smaller place without those guys
