This is something I've been wanting to do for some time, and I finally got it done.
I know some will think I got the idea from Clinton, but I actually came up with it a few years or so ago when I started collecting geocoins and military challenge coins, and found out people were designing them and having them minted themselves - it never occurred to me that could be done. But, it's not cheap like getting business cards from vistaprint, etc., so the idea kept going on the back burner. It's kind of cool to have them, it combines two things I enjoy, vent and collecting misc. tokens and commemorative coins and rolls them both into one for me. And it has key components that have been consistent in my vent interests: the logo I drew and have used since the early 80s on the front (same as my avatar on this forum) along with the names of two figures that were key for me, and the back has a secondary logo I used - a caricature I had done for me, and a vent saying I also came up with about the same time I drew the logo. No, they're not great advertising, no phone number, no web address - I wanted them, with the exception of the date, to be timeless - websites and phone numbers can change. They are also bigger than standard coins, one and a half inches in diameter, and thicker than a standard coin, neither of which you can tell from my pictures. The pictures and lettering is 3D just like a coin. I had them done in antique copper, also having some done in antique silver. So anyway, below are the best pics I could get with my average camera and poor photography skills; ![]() ![]()

Thank you.
Of course, since I'm not famous, I'm not expecting to sell them, the dollar amount on there is because coins should have some dollar amount it seemed, so I picked a number. What will I use them for before the question comes - whenever I create something and sell it, I will include one with the creation, and if I do any show where I have an audience member help me out, I'll give them one as a token for helping me out.

Very nice Dave. Where did you go to get them done?

Thank you. I did a LOT of shopping around and found the best prices at a place called "Unit Coins";
http://www.unitcoins.us/ The first order is the most expensive because you have to pay for the die to be made, but after that it's not as bad since you don't have to pay that charge (as long as you aren't changing anything except the plating).

That's very cool. I'm not sure if a similar thing can be done here in Australia, but good on you for pursuing something like this.

Thank you. I'm sure you could get it done, might cost you a little more because most ship the completed coins for free here in the states, and they might charge to ship outside the country, other than that, the only thing that could affect it is the rate of exchange, and the way our dollar has been lately, you'd probably come out cheaper.
