Silkey by Vernet looks like the Color Changing Silk with a streamer sucker finale. Vernet items has one big problem, they are all made to small for actual use by professional magician in a show. This looks like a new item, thus it will be a while before gets purchased by many.
You may like to no one seems to admit they use Vernet magic, anyway it seems that way here on the Café. Except of course their TT and wallets. That should suggest to you that the many don't purchase their items, or use their items after looking them over. If you want to do a color changing silk trick, then get Levent's silk routine. It is professional and is considered one of the best. Also Billy McComb's Half Dyed Silk is excellent. Both these I refereced are basicly the same trick, Levent comes with an excellent DVD for those that need video instructions. McComb's video would have to be purchased separately from the Abbott's Magic printed instructions. Of course neither of these come with the streamer finale as in Vernet's demo video. This type of magic is considered sleight of hand and does take some work learn, it is not automatic or beginner magic as such. I believe Duane Laflin also sells the Color Changeing silk as well with a video. Any of these long time classic versions, which stood the test of time and performed by professional magicans whom made a living presenting magic would be better then the Vernet item. Once you learn the professional versions, you can easily figure out the Vernet finale. It looks like the silks used in the demo are diamond cut silks, in the ones I mentioned above, full size silks are used. |

Fantastic info, as usual Bill!
Really, all you need is a Rice "Palmo", and two different color 18" silks. Learn a routine with those, and ya golden! I did the Color Changing silks with those for more than 10 years, and it was VERY successful! Doug |

When you say "good silk routine" what are you looking for. Any good routine? Color changing silk?
In the silk section of the Café' there are dozens of discussions on good routines. Silk to egg (stage, close up) - several killer routines discussed. Great comedy routine even if you are not a funny guy. It is situational comedy 20th Century Silks, a good routine for the middle of an act. Can be a story routine, light comedy, or played as serious magic. Marco-Mini Silks, a great opener that ends with the production of a bottle of something (beer, wine, coke) Slydini Silks, is a very interactive silk routine that involves the audience. it is great for small venues and even for street work (where is was probably first used well before Slydini got turned on to it). Dukes Dye Version, a killer big production routine often used to close a show (best used as the next to last trick/routine). Plays huge and packs small. I could go on and on. I guess it is about what you actually want and where it is going to be placed in your show.

I used this the other night in a performance and it went over very well. The props are all of good quality and of a professional size. You get eleven 12" diamond cut silks as well as all the gimmicks required to performa the effect. It has a lot of perfrmance possibilites.

I bought it and let me tell you something the ending is not explained in detail at all... most of the other "moves" I learned before so I didn't have any problems but it is trully expensive for what you get ... CAN'T recommend it

I have this, unfortunately. It is one of those magic tricks that I said when I got it, "I paid this much this!" Two plastic gimmicks and some silks and a dvd. The routine is "I"m going to show you how to change silk colors," and then he never does.

I have this as well, but luckily I found it on sale for 42.50 on a Daily Deal from Hocus Pocus. At that price, it was worth it for the silks alone. Other than that, the instruction is lacking, it's dubbed in English, and I can't recommend it unless you get it really on the cheap.
