I use mini-cards for imaginary/invisible deck. When I bring it out, I tell the spectator they were not thinking hard enough about the deck (hence the small size)

I have recently started hand m--king cards as a hobby--mostly Bicycle Rider and Maiden backs. I find working with the Bike Minis particularly challenging both for the smallness of the areas to be m----d and because of the glossiness of the backs, which do not take in-s as well as the more porous air-cushion finish on the regular poker size cards. I find that it is rather like "running with weights on" to create a nice, clean set of the Minis, but when done right they are just as usable/legible as the standard size cards, and no one has ever raised the question of any funny business going on with the backs. Further, their small size even justifies a bit of slack in time spent glancing at the backs without arousing undue suspicion. FWIW--just thought someone might find this interesting.

Go on youtube.put in BRICK TILLEY LITTLE CARDS. to see a bro.hamman trick long lost, as it's a chore to construct...
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

I always liked the card that had on the face all of the cards spread out, but tiny. So you'd have someone think of a card and then you'd hand them this card face down and say "The card you are thinking of is here", or something, and of course it is because the face side shows all the cards, just really tiny.

There was a neat newer (1970's, maybe 80's?) version of this called DOWNSIDE UP by Gaetan Bloom and sold through the venerable Ace Place Magic.
The kicker is that after you get the laugh with the 52 on 1 card, that same card--no switch-- is held between the spectator's hands and when it is viewed again ONE CARD is now printed face down. When the 52 on 1 card is turned over to the back side, the matching face of the one selected card is seen clearly printed there! Now THAT is an oldie, but a goodie... Julie |

A wonderful card rising effect can also be done with a mini deck called -Impossible Miniature Card Rise- by Martin Lewis (Close Up Miracles). Speaking of Gaetan Bloom... I built a Mini-Intercessor for him approximately 15 years ago while he was in Berlin. If you read this Gaetan... you forgot to send me something Maybe if I mention Jack it will ring a bell? PM me if you might read this

If you don't need foil tuck cases and the carat case. You can get two mini decks here for $4.99

I listed the cheaper option for mini-decks from Penguin as their shipping is free, not $3.99.
While I agree the carat case is superfluous, the foil case does look nicer. The bigger deal is that the two decks you get in that carat case are printed on actual bicycle card stock and not the plasticky card stock the standard $2.69 come on. Is that necessary? Nope, not in the slightest. But as noted in the reviews, the mini cards tend to stick as the coating is a shiny plastic. The cards feel off and the coating is not particularly pleasing when one (me) is spoiled by the thin air-cushioned finish of P3 marked maidens. The expensive deck interests me in the sense that I feel like I could handle these mini-cards like an actual big bicycle deck if only the coating were the same. A foiled box of mini bicycles makes a great gift/stocking stuffer In the meantime, I've constructed the necessary gimmick for Mini Deck and found a way to simplify the cleanup by replacing the suggested knacky sleight with a much simpler method that achieves the same thing. I look forward to performing this after some practice... Quote:

I've been practicing the Mini-Deck routine and have made two discoveries. One, I simplified the cleanup, which works well. I posted my idea on the Penguin discussion board for the trick and the creator commented and liked my idea, so that was nice.
Two, I practiced this for the first time with my wife and Mini Deck passed the wife test with flying colors. I don't remember her being this amazed by one of my tricks in quite a while so I'm hopeful this effect will be a worker for me. She had no idea how the small deck of cards changed to a regular-sized deck. "Your hands never left my sight!" The mini cards being revealed from the deck also went over well. In the end, the wife was just laughing and chuckling having been thoroughly fooled and entertained. Nice!

I plan to use a mini-deck (got a super cheap one from Amazon) for "Kolossal Killer" for practical purposes but am a bit worried that it'll increase the skepticism too much (but I'll try). But since I'll have a deck, I think I'll also try the mentioned Mini Deck By Michael O'Brien an Ray Wickham as it seems really impressive/visual. Thanks for confirming that it amazes, Kaliix.
