In the spirit of understanding duality, it might be a good exercise to write down why you love her. (Even if you don't write it down for us.)

So the first woman who showed interest in me...well...she was the lesbian. That ended that. To all the others, thanks for the advice. To Tom: Miele would be acceptable. I'll look into it. Siemens, however, is VERBOTEN, because it's a major military supplier. Can't buy anything from Siemens. I think I'm safe buying Birkenstock. :) |

I unplug the toaster. In fact, the only things I leave plugged in are the refridgerator and the furnace, but I do unplug the furnace for the summer. Although sometimes it is a pain to transfer the one lightbulb from room to room as I go around the house.
And I love my ex-wives. They helped me learn that I really didn't need all that money, furniture, or a car when they left. And now they are too busy cheating on their current husbands to cause me and hassle. Oh, and they are hundreds of miles away. |

That does sound like an awful lot to put up with so I can't help but wonder what the positives might look like. It seems like there must be some worthwhile things that would go in the "pros" column. Or maybe it has a lot to do with your own convictions or values, I don't know. I feel for you, brother. I like you even though I don't really know you. I hope things can change for the better within your relationship.

You would expect in a relationship to do the odd small load yourself by hand, but you would also expect the wife to regularly and enthusiastically be involved with the bigger loads.
Whether or not there should be an electrical device involved I'm not sure. |

You guys are too much!
Meanwhile, I've been reading that link that Panlives gave us, and am truly amazed. Only a Brit could find humor in a relationship with a German woman. Did I mention, BTW, that I think a huge portion of the problems in our marriage is her Germanness? Being that she's also middle-aged--meaning she got the full dose of the German style feminism--I basically stumbled into a relationship with an anti-male, vegetarian, communist, peacenick, feminist man-hater. Lucky me. Here's a point for y'all: here in Germany, most women her age INSIST that men sit down when they pee. They even have signs you can buy at the office supply store: |

Omg, if my wife put a sign like that in our ****er
I'd show it to her, say FU and toss it... how much allowance($$$) do you get a week? sorry, had to. no sex? she goes on vacations without you? easy tell. the 2 german chicks I knew were into BDSM big time...fun fun fun maybe she needs you to give her a spanking or visa versa. sorry for you troubles dude. if it were me I gps tag her car and see who she's visiting. I wouldn't put up with a sham marriage. all I can hear from your posts...is that you Like this treatment. morals aside, I'd bail asap. It's not worth the head pain you are suffering, and not the upper thinking one. |

I know you were just kidding around on that one. FWIW, the reason I stay is because of my son. He's 13. I get depressed and think about getting my own place, but little things happen. He comes up and grabs me, or he tries to surprise me, or we quarrel and a bit later he shouts, "I love you" up the stairs. Those little moments will get lost in the shuffle, I think. I separated from her once before for nearly a year, and although my son visited me very often, a lot of those little moments got lost. That's why I'm still here in this house. Hell, it's probably the wrong decision, but I'm making it for a good reason. |

Well, he's 13. I can take five more years.
Can't I? If I could find a girlfriend, then I could stick it out. But girlfriends seem to be put off by the "I'm still living with my wife" line. My most recent thoughts have been that I should pretend I'm happily married, and then the women would be attracted to me in order to have illicit affairs. The problem is that I don't want to cuckold anybody, so I don't really want any illicit affairs. Looks like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. |
