These are personal matters best decided between Stone and Mrs. Stone.
None of us is privy to the relationship or the health of any couple. There are many loving couples who have had to work these things out for themselves. A Dr., Clergy Member or real best friend might be a better choice as a confidant. If you wish to lend support it could be done in a P.M. -Mary |

I appreciate your thoughts, Mary, but this thread was meant partly to be funny, like the panlives link.
Nobody here actually knows me or knows my wife. But the stuff about my son...well, I think that its OK to discuss those feelings. From the PMs I've gotten, it would seem there is a lot of quiet suffering going on. I'm not so sure that such suffering out to be so quiet. Still, if a mod wants to lock this thread up I don't mind. Oh, one last thing. Her name is not "Stone". Feminists of her generation refuse to take the names of their husbands. That's another reason her anonymity is safe. All anyone here knows is that she's a middle-aged German woman married to an unhinged American. |

Maybe if you look at it as keeping the name you grew up with and the name you had when you developed self-awareness,
You can understand why it might be disorienting and weird to change one's name. -Mary Mowder |

Comics use their exes and currents for material all the time so I don't see an issue. Maybe just me.

Dang Stone. Apparently women just can't resist bossing you around. The minute you speak up about one, another comes along and tells you to shut up and take it elsewhere. You can't win for losing!

I must look "bossable" or something.
Maybe things will change after I get my tattoos. |

Apologies to anyone offended by that Frank Carson joke. Sympathy to Stoneunhinged, and big respect for sticking around for his young son.

Maybe I should actually have my name changed to Stoneunhinged for real. Then the women would know what they are getting--up front and honest-like.

Destiny and LobowolfXXX,
Do you mean as apposed to having a convention change one's name? I agree if it were your choice. But not changing should also be an option if you are fine with your current name. -Mary Mowder |

I haven't any Children.
I would make a joint decision with my Spouse (not all men like their last name). In case of a tie I'd go with convention and the Kids could make their own choices at the age of majority as anyone can. If you'd like to discuss names further you could start another thread (I don't want to hijack the thread). I don't think I have much to say about it though, just my perspective. -Mary Mowder |

I just asked because the question came to me while thinking about this thread and your post. It just seems rather odd to me that a child would not be given a last name until they decided to pick one. Maybe I am just to traditional. I do understand that people can change their name as some do, but I am rather sure that is a very small minority of people of the total population discounting marriage. Thanks for your response.
