Last night on Warehouse 13, Lovecraft’s key made an appearance.  People who touched it appeared to others as a creature out of Lovecraft’s mythos.

On the new Scooby Doo series, Mystery INC.,  Lovecraft has become H. P. Hatecraft, he, Harlan Ellison, and Howard E. Roberts (Robert E. Howard) are at the university the gang attends and have been the focal point of at least 2 episodes. Jeffery Combs voices Hatecraft.

It appears that a new generation is being exposed to the madness.

Speaking of madness, Brett Talley’s excellent book, THAT WHICH SHOULD NOT BE,  discusses an incident that took place at the Danvers State Institute for the Insane, based on a facility just miles from where I sit.  In this story, he discusses the cemetery.  It seems that patients with no family are buried on the grounds.  A small stone with the plot/burial number is all that marks their place of rest.  The numbers are recorded in a book along with the patient’s name and information.  This book is the only way to identify who is buried where.  Sound like something we know?

The other day I was thinking about a terrible racist term I have used and how I needed to come up with a better substitution. I came up with "white ape". Then I thought that was great because it's kind of a Lovecraft reference. I think the story Lurking Fear had white apes in it. Then I thought of the Full Moon movie Lurking Fear and how it sucked but I kinda want to see it again. I was a fan of the Call of Cthulhu game when I was a kid. I got a Lovecraft graphic novel at my bookstore right now.

Lurking Fear can be found at YouTube.

I always wondered if friend and protege Robert E. Howard got his inspiration for Tarzan and Conan from Lovecraft.

Just released on Tuesday, from the makers of the wonderful Call of Cthulhu comes, Whispers in the Darkness DVD. A wonderful, campy, black and white throwback to 50's horror and scifi, this ofviews just what Ineeded to relax and smile after a bad day. A complete description is at the link above. I have not seen the 2 1/2 hours of extras yet, just the film and the newspaper clippingon the first DVD.

I had preordered mine from Amazon, it arrived yesterday, not bad for having been released the day before.

I've noticed that Lovecraft themed projects tend to get funded on Kickstarter. Makes ya think...

I liked the film too, but a little less than their first one. Otherwise I'm a fan of cthulhulives.org .

Anybody else enjoy the recent movie, "The Last Lovecraft?" Obviously, they had a great time making it.

Looking forward to getting the Whisperer disc! I love the Call of Cthulhu movie, and the extra features make the movie even more amazing when you see the low-tech and inventive ways they filmed it.

I just found these on the site. Time to rework some classic plots; soul Collectors, Ambitious cultist, The Trick That Cannot be Named, cthulhu Sandwich, Cards Across vast gulfs of night, Twisting your sanity, and more: http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/storeD......&2=33225

If anyone's in the UK, there's a specialist round on H.P Lovecraft on tonight's Mastermind.

Radio 4 Extra is broadcasting The Shadow Over Innsmouth this week:

I had episode 1 on in the background yesterday and my ears pricked up because, though I'm a Brit, I used to live in Newburyport, MA! The drug store on State street was still there. Lovely.
