This may seem pretty naive, but in my eight years off and on in magic, there are some basic effects I have never learned. This happens to be one of them. I guess that's what happens when you work too much with cards.
Anyway, can someone point me in the right direction of where I should look to find out about this effect? It would be much appreciated. Thank you. Shawn

Street Magic Revealed has it if you want to learn it for free. If you want to learn it in detail http://www.penguinmagic.com has The Twisting Arm Illusion DVD. That may be of some help.

You can find many manuscripts, VHS also DVDs on that trick. Just ask your magic dealer.

Or, you can buy the booklet (or DVD, or video) from Meyer Yedid who markets it for the originator:

Pick up the Meir Yedid manuscript. It's ultra-cheap.

I was lucky enought to figure this one out myself, but yes Meir Yedid’s manuscript is cheap and tells you some good little details.
Here is a link where to get Meir’s manuscript: http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=26 Or here is a "street" magic DVD that teaches it: http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=24 Hope I helped. alan

Trickshop's ebook has a simple walkthrough (and a few basic street magic tricks.) It's all in the presentation though. Give it a good build up and really crunch those bones!

I think you know by now how to do this trick but if you want the laymen to hear your bones breaking, put a plastic cup under your armpit and crush it while twisting.
Keep up the good work |

This is one of the first tricks I learnt which got me into magic. Believe it or not, I actually saw this one on a "secrets revealed" special on television.

Bwahhhh! I remember doing this for a bunch of drunk mates outside a pub I was in a Tee-shirt and they never spotted the move as my misdirection and their drunken state. it made the illusiuon all the more greater for them. never again tho' that was on the edge for taking the mick.

I don't use a plastic cup under my arm for this, actually; when I try, it usually falls out. I can make a pretty good imitation of the sound with my tongue and the back of my mouth, however.
I learned it from the Street Magic Revealed ebook and have had 50/50 success with it. My dad and one of my sisters were taken in, and my other sister and someone else saw through it. That most likely means I need to work on the misdirection. I haven't performed it since then; I'd like to get it down better, and I haven't seen any good opportunities for it yet, either. |

A small pouch full of dried pasta safety pinned under your shirt or jacket also makes a nice sound and can be used quite a few times before it needs refilling.

Adding some thread..tied about wrist and spiral it up your arm to elbow. After the twist...raise your sleeve to show your arm twisted.

This can be a great trick if properly presented it can be hard to do as well untill you get used to it.Its all in the misdirection I think to get your hand in posistion.I had great sucess with this trick and then they give it away on street secrets revealed or some terrible show like that and now a lot of laypeople know it.The same happened with ash on the palm.Very annoying.andy

Silverfire9, you said you make a pretty good imitation of the sound with your tongue and the back of your mouth... just tried it and choked. They had to call 911 and everything. I'll stick to the pasta thing, great idea!

Just curios, what surface do you use to perform this? Do you have to clear the ground and kneel down? Or do you do it against a wall or on a table? I've been reluctant to perform this cuz I don't want to kneel down on the ground.

I normally kneel down on the ground. That seems the most easy to me because you can turn your arm while kneeling down.
