I heard about CC through a friend and they said it was amazing. Is it worth the price?

All the books are written in a progrssive teaching way. The first one deal with basic knowledge and principles and guide you thru all you have to know with appropriate tricks (good ones) for you to practice what you've just learn. As you go accross the series the difficulty is getting higher and higher. The series is composed of 5 books and everybody seems to say that it's a must have series of books.

MagicGirl,

Yes they worth the price. I started learn card magic last year with Royal Road to Card Magic and Giobbi's Card College and it's a very good starting point. Take your time to practice what you learn from each book. And also Roberto Giobbi is a very good writer and he has a lot of references to the best magic books and tricks. From my personal point of view Card College is a must for a beginner in card magic. And, by the way, you can buy the DVD too....

Have fun

Mike

It's an indispensable reference on the art of card magic and sleights.

Another yes (times five).
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
"The dog did nothing in the night-time."
"That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes.

Card College Volumes 1 through 4 are worth every penny and then some. You've posted in the section for flourishes, and while you will find some nice ones sprinkled throughout the series...you are mostly learning sleight of hand, theory, numerous tricks, effects, tips, and history.

If you are looking for fancy card flourishes, go NO further than http://www.flourishman.com/Encyclopedia.htm

Good luck!

I have yet to meet someone who regretted getting Card College. The series is an invaluable tool for the prestidigitator.

I checked Elwood out, shipping was around $50, so its a bit too expensive. Has anyone seen these as an ebook? If you know somewhere I could buy them, just send me a pm. Wheather its second hand or not, I don't really mind

http://www.lybrary.com/card-college-1-2-p-817.html has them reasonably as ebooks, or you can download various chapters for $6 a piece. Not bad when you consider you are supposed to read the books in order and get a good grip on the technique taught before moving on. A good way to work at a proper pace...just an idea.

The word cheap is relative...what you learn in these books could pay for themselves in one gig. Although not many people have an extra hundred bucks lying around, I kid you not when I say (in my opinion) they are worth every penny.

Good Luck

I'm one of the few people who doesn't think Card College is worth the price. It's a wonderful series, but for the same price you can get an entire library of magic from Dover. That's what I recommend doing.

There are a few other things I don't like about it besides price, by the way. And since we're in the flourishing forum, I might as well say that flourishing is best learned from other sources, too.

Well worth it. Acrobat Family and Coue Test are two of my favorites from book 1.

I think that Card College is like a degree in card magic , it's not the best for flourishing .
