Anyone that wants to collude can easily come up with some English phrases in the parking lot that convey the same basic information as saying it out loud. If I begin my sentence with a word that begins in "R" then you should raise. If it begins with the letter "C" then you should call. If it begins with "F" then you should fold. Get the idea? 10 seconds later and we have 20,000,000 English sentences that could be spoken at the card table and we can still convey the raise, call, fold info that colluders need.

To me it all boils down to saying to the cheaters, "You can't use these words to collude and cross-fire, you must use these words." Silliness.

I don't play on line, I only play in live games, so I do not know for sure how it works there. However I have heard guys talking at poker forums about the English Only Rule re the chat thingy that they use in on line games. There is a lot of little arguments about it there at them places. I guess the Chinamen etc must play on line?

Makes even less sense online as (1) chat is stored, and therefore reviewable together with the hole cards in the play of all hands of any particular player, and (2) the better sites have people with multilingual skills and can translate anything being said. Hence online cheating through the chat will be caught close to 100% of the time. As previously stated, there's much easier and better ways of cheating than speaking openly so the whole table can hear.
