So, I thought I'd finally explain why my signature block is "...NSA John McLaughlin not CIA John McLaughlin". While stationed at the National Security Agency, which we jokingly refered to as "No Such Agency" (hidden behind a great big sign with an arrow off the highway that says National Security Agency) just outside of Baltimore, I'd make frequent trips to Denny and Lee Magic. Sometimes I'd call in advance to see if he had what I needed. Once when I came in Denny looked a bit disappointed when he saw me. It turns out he has another customer named John McLaughlin who was acting director of the CIA at the time. Denny told me that when he would show up his "escorts" with weapons would have to walk through the shop before Deputy Director McLaughlin could come in to the store. Never met the other John McLaughlin, but it's a story I'll never forget.
