This is me and my new dog marionette I named Rex.
I just finished making him and this is the first time I have ever videoed me working Rex.

I see a lot of things I need to work on, but I still wanted to show him off.

Very nice work, Randi. Love that he can pick up and drop the ball.

Thanks.

I sculpted all the pieces from green foam.
Then I coated it in plastic resin.
Then covered it with felt.

To get the mouth to work so good, I ended up having to put a string to open the mouth.
The mouth stays open with lead and gravity, but when you bend the head down, the mouth position doesn't change but the head does.
This means the mouth is now closed. So I added a string through the back of the head to open it up.

He also has a magnet embedded in the roof of his mouth.
I made a toy rag, with a magnet in the end, that he can pick pick up, shake, and play tug of war with.
The ball doesn't use the magnet though, that's all dexterity.
