Hiya
I thought I let you all know of an upcoming effect we are releasing by Nefesch. We have also amended the trailer for ‘Latex’ which now shows a full, unedited routine. http://www.magictao.co.uk/Latex-by-Nefesch You borrow a coin from a spectator. You ask the spectator to sign the coin, on both sides, to verify that it is their signed coin that you are using. You show the spectator a balloon and ask them to place their signed coin inside the balloon. You then inflate and tie off the balloon. For effect, you can shake the balloon to verify that the signed coin is still inside. You then proceed to do the impossible; you start to pull out the spectator’s signed coin from inside the balloon. The spectator will see the coin emerging from the balloon. You then show that, in fact, there is no hole in the balloon for the coin to emerge from. As an additional kicker, you can burst the balloon and then show it repaired. No duplicate coins Borrowed coin No palming Start clean, end clean Perform surrounded |

I had the pleasure to have nefesch perform this effect for me in the past and all I can say is that it is a really amazing effect. I am not going to use the word "fooled" ,as I didn't take this effect as another trick that came out from the magic box, rather than the word "impressed". The feeling of the coin coming out of the balloon like melting thru the latex is pure magic made possible in close up. This is very easy to set up and perform and for sure will make you add balloons in your magic repertoire. I doubt you can get a penetration more visual than that.

But is this suitable for a Restaurant performance? Can't see many punters being very happy about exploding bits of balloon ending up in drinks etc. Apart from this, this looks like a very visual and magical effect.

It reminds me of Hospital Penetration by Mike Gain.

They sign the the coin, they drop the coin in the balloon, the balloon is blown up and their signed coin is pulled from the balloon. Hospital Penetration might be a good gag at a proctologist convention. |

Latex uses a differnet method, and its presentation is totally different, the coin can be signed, there are no duplicate coins, nothing to palm, everything is self working. And as far as I know is the most visual coin from balloon ever. Nefesch |

It has no cuts showing the full effect even from dangerous angles that I would personally avoid showing. Having seen this effect live from Nefesch I can say that from the trailer you can have a full overview of the effect while in face to face performances the balloon by its nature allows to show each time only what you want them to see which will of course be very useful when you will perform this effect but not at all if you want to let others see the whole thing |

I have this and have performed it at the park ( my magic lab ). I had watched the demo on Penguin many, many times:
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/2798 The ad had these points: No duplicate coins Borrowed coin No palming Start clean, end clean Perform surrounded On the demo the magician used his own quarter and told the spectator to sign the coin on "either side". Based on that, I was sure I knew most of the method, but was still intrigued by it. Guess what? You can borrow the quarter ( any quarter ). There is no switch of any kind. They initial both sides, THEY place it in the balloon. The balloon is blown up and as amazing as it sounds, their actual, signed quarter starts to come through the balloon. They see their initials. it's plucked out and the balloon is intact and they keep the quarter. I changed the way to perform this that works for me. I had them sign the quarter first ( they didn't have one, so I used my own ). Then I took out the balloons and took one and went from there. I just think that flowed better. Flat out, amazed reactions from the little group. It's like when people see something strange and squint, cock their heads trying to understand it. The illusion is spectacular. It's Halloween and I'm a bit corny to begin with, so I did the "like a ghost, walking through a castle wall" line. No need to gang up on me for it;-) Towards the end of the DVD, you're shown Nefesch's original handling, which did not have a restoration. When I performed it, I did not do the popping of the balloon and then the restore. I think it's great they included it, but I don't think it's needed. Some do card warp and then restore the card, but I think that's piggy backing two different tricks and as a general rule, I don't. If you look on the demo, the spectator is fairly gobsmacked that their signed coin exited the balloon, with no harm to the balloon. But if you like to pop and restore it, feel free. So, you get a DVD and they include 3 balloons to get you started. For $25, I was surprised they just didn't tell you what balloons to get. Good on them. The young man on the demo, Chris Webb, does all the teaching and he's excellent. I've become a fan! A nice plus is that you do not have to blow up 20 balloons to practice. You can use the same balloon to practice over and over again. It's easy to do, but you'll just have fun while doing it in the mirror for yourself. BIG THUMBS up on this. It's clever, it's easy and people are amazed by it. Le Zombie |

Reignofsound, looking forward to hearing your experiences. You'll have fun just learning it because the coin melting out of the ballon is so much fun to do just for yourself.
