So Lance is out of his Tour wins?
I guess at some point you just have no choice but to give up. They've been after him for years looks like it's finally going to happen.

Does Lance's move make you more inclined to think he is guilty?

Well yes. I can't see how he could have done anything wrong if he did not make a move.

There's been nothing proven that he was guilty of doping, so why strip him of his victories?
I think this is so sad. Carrie |

It is sad. USADA just wants the publicity.

How can USADA strip anyone of any awards? Are they part of the Tour organization?

I've got a bone to pick with you, because you never answered my question in the most recent gun thread. I love you in Christ, but I think you've been bamboozeld by FOX network (or something else just as sinister). If Lance cheated, he cheated. Cheating is wrong. Period. |

I strongly suspect that they showed Lance the smoking gun, and he had no choice but to give up.
The question is, was he unfairly singled out if "everyone" else was doing the same? Don't know anything about cycling, maybe those who do can answer.

He's just making a career move. Lesser of two evils as far as he is concerned. If he had fought it then the truth would have come out and he stands to lose a huge amount. I believe one insurance company that paid him 9.5 million in bonuses are expected to seek the money be returned.
Him always banging on about never testing positive is an out and out lie - he tested positive in 1999 and then got a back-dated prescription, which the UCI accepted. They should hang their heads in shame, as they facilitated him all the way. Those who have investigated him over the years, such as David Walsh and Paul Kimmage, have been vindicated.

I recall reading how the runner-ups in Armstrong's races are either admitted dopers or they've been caught. As I understand it, the testing technology has lagged behind the doping technology, but... apply today's testing tech to old blood samples...

USADA claim to have evidence, and I have to believe them over Armstrong's denial. He was able to get away with it for this long, but eventually new technology was going to catch up to him.

Not say9ng he is guilty or innocent.
However this deal is definitely not like a court of law. As in double jeopardy. I mean hasn't he been found clean several times already in the past and vindicated? How many bites of the apple is this organization allowed? Again not saying innocent or guilty...just saying. Sure sounds like he P.Oed some people along the line. I am not very knowledgable about bike racing on such a high level but from the little I have read over the years I have surmised that the sport is rampant with illegal use of drugs. That of course does not make it right, only sad. Quite honestly I have always thought that these athelete are probably some the most conditioned in the world as to what they have to endure day after day for a long period iin order to compete. I can see how this sport would fall prey to the use of illegal drugs. A sad day for those involved in what should be a very clean and competitive sport.

We can't have guilt by accusation. What is the evidence anyway?

If it can be proved Lance was juiced up on every single bike ride, it would still not diminish my admiration for the man. He is a legend on the bike. It's a huge sport over here in Europe, and none have matched his achievements. Let's be honest for a moment; no amount of steroids or EPO will turn you or me into a tour winner. That takes extraordinary talent and extraordinary confidence. Both things Lance had, neither of which came from a bottle or a needle.
And no allegation has been proved against him. He could just have got sick of the witch hunt. Cycling, like most sports, is rife with drug taking. In every sport I have participated in, except boxing, I have competed against guys on drugs. It never bothered me. It is part of the game. The most talented man generally emerges on top, either way. Remember Ben Johnson? Six of the guys in that final - including Carl Lewis - were tainted by drugs scandals. Can any of you remember the two clean athletes? We need to adjust our thinking to take into account the fact that most of our heroes are on something stronger than aspirin. And Lance, clean or not, is still my hero.
