Mr. Reynolds,
Hope this is on topic but I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jamie D. Grant's Industrial Revelation yet. It's bigger than the matchbox (Playing card box sized) and it's made out of carbon steel which doesn't come close to the tarnishing you get with brass. After a couple of years mine isn't exactly the same as when I first got it but it's close and easily restored. I don't know if it's a plus or a minus but the mass of the block is impressive in regards to the effect, in other words the weight of it in someone's hand adds so much more to the trick in my opinion. The down side to that is the weight makes you not want to carry it around all the time. Just a little side note. Respectfully, Phil |

Jamie's IR is certainly great, no doubt about it.
However this version does have a couple benefits. First, the smaller size and weight may lessen the effect a bit but this can also be a big plus as you noted. IR will have no impact everytime you choose not to bring it with you due to its weight. Which is not uncommon for many magicians. Secondly, the Danny Orleans routine provided really changes the entire effect of this. Rather than being seen strictly as a penetration, putting the match thru the matchbox really acts as a subtle convincer that the box must still be empty before you immediately dump the brass block out of it. Keep in mind that the box is examined beforehand and plainly seen to be empty. So it becomes more of an appearance than a penetration. A nice by product of this is that specs really aren't motivated to examine the block. They're not wondering if it's solid, they're trying to figure out how it possibly got in the box. So even though the metal block is very well made and examinable, there really isn't a need or desire to inspect it. The weight is still pretty heavy for its size and it definitely makes a loud clunk or thud if dropped onto a tabletop. Folks are definitely surprised by the heftiness of it. Jamie's is great and certainly has its place, but I think this version does too. I can say that I am MUCH more likely to carry the matchbox version with me. You can basically toss it in a pocket and not even think about it. Now there some obvious advantages with IR also, but I'll save those for that thread and focus on the matchbox this time. |

I ordered and paid The Original Matchbook penetration three weeks ago (at Danny Orleans Corporate Magic.)
Actually, I should get my "The Original Matchbook Penetration" already, but it's not yet done. I wrote an email and asked if there any problems with my delivery? Today I got an email from Corporate Magic. There are problems in the production of "The Original Matchbook Penetration". The delivery is delayed about a month. She wrote: ***If you are willing to wait for the extra month (and I hope it really is just one month J ) I will be honoring the price you paid originally. If you would like a refund I would be happy to comply, but if you wish to purchase at a future date from me or Magic Inc., expect the price to be much higher. My apologies again for this delay; I was told the items would be ready at this time. If you feel you cannot wait that long I will of course refund your money. *** Very good news, right? Has anyone the same problem? Maybe Pedro (Magic Inc.) and Danny Orleans can say something more about it? dj |

Little confused. I have the matchbox penetration from Magic Makers that I bought years ago. Fortunately, it's still in good shape and works fine. As for the comment that only the 'Original Matchbox Penetration' will work with Danny Orleans routine (which I really like BTW), it seems the Magic Makers version will also work (with the same method I'm assuming) unless I'm missing something.

And Pedro also says nothing. He (Pedro) has made great spells at the beginning. Now he dares nothing more to say. @Danny&Pedro: Shame on you! dj |

I received mine the other day, and I must say, this is probably the greatest thing I have ever seen. I had some under $50 alternatives and there's just no comparison. This will make you do the trick everywhere you go... As mentioned earlier you can hand this out to spectators for examination with 99.9% confidence they will not figure this out...as opposed to the alternatives. Very deceptive and very high quality. I second the congrats to Pedro.
Do not buy any penetration but this one. You have been warned. |

This effect can be done with the trabucco holdout. Using Moves from the match box bolt routine. Your clean and the spec will never find any gimmick.

Hello everyone,
I must apologize for not seeing these posts earlier. I don't know if there's a way to set this so I get notified whenever someone replies to my post. I don't check the forum every day - or even every month. I mostly use it as a resource to get my research started. It's what I've done for the last 8 years that I have been a member. I would like to post for the record that at no point did I receive a Private Message from any of the involved parties concerning this topic. Our company's website is posted, and our direct email and phone number are readily available - but nobody reached out to me to ask me if I had any input. It is a shame that I didn't reply to the posting, but I can't reply to a question I haven't seen. About the Original Matchbox Penetration: DJ - I truly do hope that you have received your unit already. We sent the last batch for Mr. Orleans at the end of last year. Every unit after that has been sold directly through our company. The manufacturing costs are so great that we can't afford to sell units to any other retailers at the moment. TXKevin - This is a completely different system than the block you get from Magic Makers. About twice the thickness, with a more deceiving finish, and with an opening mechanism that does not split down the middle. Uli Weigel - All the leads I have been able to come up with tell me that Jose Llacer was selling this trick in the early 90s. Jose Llacer's middle name is Manuel, which means his initials would also be J.M. It is possible that the catalog had a typo: Martinez was already a popular name in the magic scene (because of Daryl) and Llacer is not that common a name. When I last spoke with Llacer he assured me that this was his invention (for what that's worth). If I find out anything else, I will try to post it. Everyone else - A small quantity of the Original Matchbox Penetration blocks are available a couple times a month. We are no longer able to include Danny Orlean's routine with our block. His absolutely terrific routine is still available through his website, and I definitely recommend anybody who owns the block should get and learn his routine. Our blocks now come with a completely new booklet which teaches you everything you would need to know to make sure your block works flawlessly for many years to come. In addition, it includes Eugene Burger's routine for the Original Matchbox Penetration. This is a presentation for the original handling of the trick, not Mr. Orleans' handling. The blocks are a pain in the back to make - quite literally. The finish alone takes me between 15 and 60 minutes PER unit, and that's after our metal worker has put another absurd amount of time putting them together. But at the end of the day, anybody who has bought one has to agree that it's worth all the extra effort. Because of this, we can only make a handful of units a month. When we do, we post them on our site. We also keep a list of anybody waiting for a unit, and call them up before we put any units on the site - so if you go and see they are out of stock, drop me a line and we'll add you to the list. As soon as we make a new batch, you will get a call. As of today, there are a couple units available: https://goo.gl/TQHrXF Sorry to be so long winded, I had a lot of issues to address. If anybody has any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Cheers! Quote:

That's an interesting question. I didn't think there would be interest in the booklet by itself, but I guess there are enough people out there who own the Original Matchbox Penetration, that this does make sense.
On the one hand, I would like to protect the secret from the people who are only interested in learning how this works. On the other hand, there are a lot of things I have learned after making these for a few years, and I think anybody who owns these can benefit from the content. Both Burger's charming presentation and learning how to care for your block are things that you should know... So, how about you email me a picture of your block in the open position, and tell me when (approximately) you bought it, and I'll reply with instructions on how to purchase one of the booklets. Send emails to Info@magicinc.net, to the attention of Pedro Nieves. The same goes to anybody else who owns one of the Original Blocks - either the ones made in Spain, or the people who bought our block before we had our own instruction booklet. Quote:
