My wife gave it to me for a birthday present. Now I need to find some apps... Any suggestions?

If you have a Nook or Kindle, the apps for those products are free, and I prefer reading ebooks off of the iPad screen.

You have access to the App store, and subsequent apps.
Try one called App Hits. It tells you what's popular, what has been reduced in price, which ones are free and which cost you loot. The photography apps are fun and incredible, what you can do with pushing a button nowadays is amazing. Photo redo is a hoot. Radio USA lets you tune into any US radio station, and Tunein Radio lets you tune into the world (blues from the French station Azur Blues is especially nice.) Have fun...get the freebies first to acclimate yourself to the APPS world, then decide whats worth mney. Read those reviews!

Thanks for rubbing it in. I'm still stuck with my old IBM 386.

I guess the idea is to get apps that suit you personally. There seems to be apps for all sorts.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've already got Paper; my wife's got an iPad as well, I just don't want to rebuy everything I already bought. I might just have to rebuy Ascendancy, though...
