In a couple of months, I am helping a friend sell his leather goods at an "Adult Convention" When I say Adult, I mean ADULT. If you need more clarification, then you are too young to understand. Anyway, what I want to do is setup my close-up table in front of his booth, and do some magic to attract more customers. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for more "Adult" tricks?

I don't know how much magic is going to attract more people than some of the other things at an ADULT convention. You have to find some hardcore tricks, (no pun intended), maybe alter routines you have so they use his product? using leather whips as magic wands and whatnot. Are you doing bigger Illusions? Mismade girl can be kind of interesting, and so can the sword basket if you get the right assistant. WHat about using other things to do a coins across type routine? Bottom line is try to sell his product. You have to come up with provocative patter if you're going to be doing card tricks because it's obviously going to suit your clients.

Insurance policy could be good, vanishing bandana could play kind of interesting if you come up with the right in-between patter, cut and restored rope (tons of easy patter could go with this), sponge balls from the mouth or sponge balls in general ending with the sponge ding dong, swallowing an inflated balloon animal balloon (I learned this in prison, at the white house etc.). There are a few good things you can do if you put your mind to it. These are ideas I came up with in literally 2 minutes as to what I would do...try it out. ANd if Jenna's gonna be there send me an invite haha have fun!

Why try to learn new stuff? Do what you do well. If they are real adults treat them as such.

How about a rope/string and ring routine with a pliable leather thong/lace and a harness ring that might be used on some of your friend's products? There are plenty of possibilities for patter with "trying to get out of it" themes.

I agree with pete. do your stuff. you will be happier in the end if you do.

I do have a lot of stuff that I can do.

I have Symbologic, which will work great, plus a couple other mentalism effects. I have ring on a string, and Professor's nightmare (which will be riot with my patter) and I have cups and balls.

I was just looking for something new, not sure what though. I always want to learn and ever expand my repetoire, and since this is not something I normally do, I figured it would be a good venue to try and get some new, more adult effects in to my repetoire.

Handcuffs come to mind... Also, I have a Svengali deck that turns into "nudie" cards. Seems to get attention.

Just had a goofy thought regarding using cups and balls....

Much as I hate to say it, the bra trick comes to mind.

Get some purple sponge rubber and cut it into triangles and do a Viagra routine!

Rising cards - too obvious for words, Glorpy, too!

Thumbcuffs, Tenkai's Decapitation (ropes thru the neck), X-Ray vision act (blindfold routine), Professor Charlie Cheer's Rope Trick, and, if you ant to get gross, the Pea Can!

I would just act like you are doing a tradeshow. Try to attract people and get them intrested in the product.

Honestly if this convention is like most conventions for ANY hobby/job, then people are going to be a little tired of the same old things, and anything different will get their attention.

You don't need to make your magic dirty, just do your regular stuff and they will be intrested because it will be a change of pace.

That's what they are there for anyways. Who know's you might get asked to do other "Adult" parties as Nakini the Magician. Remember start with the old classic - Rising Wand Trick, and end with the Vanishing Wand Trick (with the help of a beautiful female assistant from the crowd), followed 9 months later by the Vanishing Magician Trick.

Just do all your normal tricks but wink after every line so they think you said something dirty.

I've done adult events in the past and I have found that they are not there to be sleazy but to have FUN! You'll be surprised how many couples will be there and some may be quite emarrased to be there so keep it light, silly and FUN!!!

In other words, go for innuendo over out right rudeness.

Doc Eason's All Screwed Up Routine is really a close
up effect but you may be able to play it big.

Use a break-away wand and say the magic word "Viagra" to restore it. (Nicholas J. Johnson's avatar looks like the before picture.)

I advise you to visit one of the larger stores, in your town, that sells adult toys and such. You're bound to get ideas, if the store stocks a variety of items.

Here's a few ideas:

- A flipstick routine using a certain battery operated item.
- Thumb tie (popular with the S&M crowd)
- Goshman's D*ng D*ng
- Ring and Rope (Harness rings are available, quite often, where adult toys are sold.)
- Sponge Bunnies
- Card effects with naughty decks (draw an "x" on the back of the cards with a bar of "Cashmere Bouquet" soap, so they will handle well)
- Card to battery compartment of a battery operated device, held in a woman's cleavage
- 3 in the hand, one in the pocket (using condoms, naughty erasers, harness rings, etc.)
- Stan, Kate and Edith (or whatever that Kerry Pollack routine is)

I never thought I’d recommend the Magic Ding Dong to anybody but if there was ever a venue that this trick might be appropriate for - this is it.
