Anyone have a good resource for some carnival barker/talker/ring master patter?
I'd like some good lines, preferably something vintage or poetic. thanks |

Your request is very general. Choosing something helpful for you would require knowing what you want to depict with it.

Or When Culpepper Merriweather Circus played Phoenix Red Johnson would let Circus Fan Fred Reed (deceased) announce the show in exchange for laying the show down...this was one of my favorite annoucements Fred came up for the Ole Curator..."Folks, riding a Bicycle is great exercise...Jim tried riding on the streets of Phoenix, but he found its too dangerous! So he is going to ride up there...where its Safe!!!..."

Jim. Is that the same bike Dennis and I saw in front of the bar in Pueblo? Also, I don't see any counter weights hanging from it.

Hey Rod how bout this one...
Direct from the Carson Ranch in the Red River Valley of Hugo Oklahoma, welcome the biggest stars of the Carson & Barnes Circus. Because of the dwindling number of this magnificent endangered species, you may never witness this sight again, over 72,000 pounds of performing pachyderms. As they said in the days of the old “hold on to your horses”– HERE COME THE ELEPHANTS.

Yes, Jim:
I think this was the announcement for the spectacular long mount that Dorey Miller produced. Donnie " Oakie" Carr had the elephant dept then. I feel VERY fortunate to have been able to witness such a true spectacle, I really doubt we will ever see the long mount quite like Carson & Barnes had ever again. Totally Awesome. |

I am not 100% sure but as elephants are mentioned I am guessing .......
It's when someone has sex for a long time ...... Darn it there goes my self respect! Again!!!! No in all seriousness I don't know for sure but as elephants are mentioned I think it's that trick (probably to the right word) where the elephants have their front legs on the back of the elephant in front. And there are lots of them in a row. But as I sain that's a guess. Thanks for keeping me in my place harley, it's about time someone cracked down on me. |

Yes, and Carson and Barnes had a huge herd. I only saw C&B once, after the herd was smaller, and there were 25 elephants. I think they had 40 at one time.

By the time I got to presenting pachyderms for Chipperfields,
we only had 3, which made it a short long mount! Those 3 girlies are now on RBBB. Mind you, in a 42 foot ring a six beast mount is about the maximum that would fit. C&Bs hippodrome track long mount was always spectacular more so for the public sitting front row along he track. |
