We used the same illusion in Brutal Planet. As far as I can get from your descriptions it is closer to Spidora or headless woman. The 45º Mirrors seam at the back of the spine concealing the actor standing straight up. Its quite possible this photo has been touched as to make the reflection not look similiar to the outside wood.

Here is my version of this truly baffling illusion. Thanks again to Steven Conner for inspiring me to build it and a huge thanks to Philip Kaiser for making it happen!

I love it. |

I used a design scribbled on a cocktail napkin. I have several plans but they are all a joke, unless you have drafting tools and a degree in drafting. Philip Kaiser deserves all the credit for the construction. I just dreamed and cut wood and ran to the DIY store.

I thought it looked better by day .... Or at least with a little more ambient light. When the camera flash went off it lit up enough of the background to see that it's not just you behind the crate - if that makes sense.
Of course it may look great live at night 'film' can be deceptive cant it. It rocks either way. |

Thanks Dave. I have seen a bunch of video close up with even more bunches of camera flashes going off. The illusion looks just as good in day as night. The reason I only posted a far shot is because my shirt wasn't hanging right. It has been reattached and it is as good as new. Another disaster diverted.

Does the box close p when you are not in it?
|

Rotten![]() Special user 833 Posts ![]() |
Yes, and is as water tight as a box can be. Used a marine top coat to seal the paint. I just have to worry about spiders moving in. I made mine a little different than the other ones shown on this thread. I can get into it and then raise the lid and open the front doors by myself but I do have assistants there if I need. They primarily distract the crowd while I get in and out.
