What do you REALLY think about:
1) The name 2) The by-line 3) The graphic and 4) The other text? (Serving up the comfort food of magic in a celebration of redneckyness!) Thank you sooo much. Please be as rough as you can! |

It is totally not my thing . . . but I think it is very clever and would probably go great with your audience.

I think that Bob Sanders uses the moniker "Bubba Whodini"...

Clinton,
Yes, he does. I am not sure he has ever actually used it in a show, but he does sign off as that on occasion. Perhaps I was unconsciously inspired by that, I do not know. I am being extra thorough with this because I know some magicians (not yourself) would love to start a fight over this . . . He certainly did not invent "Bubba" and Houdini was rather famous . . . The first "Café" use of "Whodini" I can find is in 2001, not by Bob, but here http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/bb_pr......user=181 . I am not saying Bob should ask this guy permission to use "Whodini" since I am sure the play on words has been used even earlier. In 1999 a consulting company started using (and still does) the name "Whodini" - http://Whodini.com . Of course "Whodini" is also a somewhat famous hip hop band formed 1981 and still playing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whodini Of course, I am not using the name "Whodini" at all. Houdini is in the byline, and also partly in a mash-up of "Bubbadini". I don't think there could be any mix-up between the two, even if Bob worked his character - and I can assure you the two characters would be wildly different. Do you think there is infringement there? Bubba Whodini and Bubbadini? We both are using a stereotypical "redneck" name (and I seriously doubt Bob was the first to use the name "Bubba" in magic) and doing a play on words with Houdini - but in different ways. I think it is a good stretch, but I am interested in what others say. |

Sorry if I implied that you were infringing on something. It was simply a comment about something that I, being from the South, find humorous. I also don't think that Bob would have a problem with it.

Just curious, will this be used on a website, poster, flyer?
I think it works well for the intended audience but... I would make the subtitle bigger and the name Bubbadini itself a lot larger. Right now I think the name and subtitle flow too much into the tagline and I read it kind of like a run-on sentence. You really want to emphasize your name. I would also use a font that makes it stand out compared to the rest of the text. Maybe a slightly different type and not just a different color, but this can be tricky because it can make it contrast too much if you're not careful. Or even making the angle that Bubbadini is shifted more larger (right now it seems to be about 5%) and moving the subtitle just to the right of it could also help since there is all of that unused space to the right. Just some different ideas to play with. (I also don't see an issue with it being similar to Bubba Whodini) For the sentences in blue, I would add more space between the name and also center both sections, or fit the text where it covers the entire length of space horizontally. Right now it just seems to be justified to the right, and in doing so feels offset. I also don't like the spot where the veteran sticker is (thank you for your service by the way). I would move it somewhere in the empty space under the parrot. As is, the text at the top of the page is too 'busy' for me and this doesn't help. Anyways, just some thoughts. And these are minor suggestions, for the most part I am being nitpicky. Just didn't want this to come across like I didn't think it was good. |

KC,
Keep going, who knows, you may end up with a reality show! I'd watch! John

Clinton, no need to apologize, I didn't think that, but I know some would, so I wanted to cover my bases.
Robert, I think you are right, and will be re-working it. It is just a graphic. It will be worked into a website and fliers in the future once I am really happy with it. Right now, I will probably be changing the tag to "the Blue Collar Houdini" to giver it wider appeal. My wife thinks using "Comfort food" could be negative with women, so I plan to test that at the mall tomorrow. John, I don't know if you have heard of Lizard Lick Towing, a "reality" show, but they are just down the road! |

HA!!!!! I Love Lizard Lick Towing. However, KC be very careful using the words "Blue Collar" as that is Trademarked and Copy Righted by Jeff Foxworthy and anything having to do with Blue Collar and Comedy such as a Magic Show might be getting close to the line of Ethics. I could be way off base but I could be right. Just a thought or two.

Rodney,
I wasn't aware of that since "blue collar" has been widely used well before Jeff Foxworthy. I imagine in most people's minds it would tie to that, which is reason enough not to use it. I am trying to come up with something that says working class, Hey, maybe I'll use that! Any other suggestions are VERY welcome! --No, "47%ers" won't work - even though it does end in a "7". |

Doug,
Thank you! I drew one and had my "pirate" one drawn by Scott at Look Creative Studio (I did modify it some . . .). Judging by the stye, Rodney probably had his drawn by Scott too. Scott does a lot of entertainer's work, and he does a nice job. http://www.lookcreativestudio.co.uk KC |

You may very well be on the way to a brand. Not bad at all. Not my style but that is the point. It is YOUR style.

Danny,
Thank you. No, it is not your style, but you have your own, and and are doing well with it. If we all looked and acted the same it would be boring. KC |

My lord yes indeed.
The fact that it can brand you as this is what I like about it to tell the truth. Keep at it and it will be a brand.

It seems like the graphics in your website are going a little too much in every direction. I'm not your target audience, so I'm not sure. It is fun. I like it. But maybe a bit too distracting.
