I don't think the dvd is all that bad. True there is nothing earth shatering on it but nothing that bad either.
The only item on the dvd I could say I didn't realy like was all rolled up. |

Frankenfish was usuable. A little work and it would be a good effect. It was a nice idea.

I revisited this DVD recently. And ASHES is a fantastic routine. I agree with the poster above that using the Asher Twist for each vanish is not the way to go, but the rest of the routine is excellent.

Wow, this thread is resurrected from the dead!
I bought this set eventually. I liked Frankenfish and Silverose but I didn't pay much attention to the rest as I felt they were a bit too weak. Chris Randall is a very capable performer, judging from this performance on the video, so I wouldn't write him off based on the DVD. It's nothing Earth shattering but it's still pretty good. I personally learnt a thing or two from his DVDs. Take care guys, Logan

It's not a gerat DVD, but I think if you get sone thing you can use, it's worth it. The ASHES routine has some gerat touches on it. I don't like that he uses the Asher Twist for each vanish of the ace. But he has a clever display of the "special" aces showing their backs ( fancier and more convincing that a flustration count ).
Also the lay down of the 3 "indifferent" cards on the leader ace is one I know use.

Well, I finally got around to watching this. I was excited based on the routine descriptions, but ended up disappointed like pretty much everyone else who has posted here.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I was particularly annoyed by some of the audience's over-the-top (faked) reactions. It took away from the performances, imo. Also, Chris seems to make popping noises every time he does something magical and, after a while, it started to grate on me. As for the magic, the previous posts really tell it like it is. Some great ideas on the DVD overall, and Chris is a pretty good magician, but this DVD is unfortunately not worth the money. |
