Hey guys. my subject means that I like to perform magic in school, and I know that I should perform for strangers but it is kinda hard to find the right trick to break the ice with if you know what I mean. I always (kinda ashamed to say it) get embarrassed when people ask to see something in front of a lot of people. so I was just wondering if any of you guys use some cool tricks to basically break the ice in a group of people in school that you wanna fool...thanx
the magic is not in the magician...but in the spectator

How about, "Hey, check this out."
Be bold! Also, avoid the tempation to perform anything that might not go well. When you are the center of attention, and folks ask to see just one more, have a way to change the subject rather than get dragged into doing "that impossible thing from that new video that you almost got when practicing in the mirror last week." Getting into the moment is important...so is the getting out of the moment. Good luck, and break many legs! Jason |

Best trick ever to break the ice with is sponge balls...when doing it for a group make sure you make the balls appear in a girls hand always gets strong reactions and the audience, if you're in highschool, will make the rude comments...but don't you do it haha! Just have fun, do a few tricks and remember...ITS OK TO SHAKE A BIT AND BE NERVOUS. That goes away with time

Great point...the group psychology and individual reactions are completely different depending on which person you choose to do the magic "on" or "with" or "to".

Acople of months ago l was attending an workrelated conferance, between lectures l did the Healed an Sealed infront of 10-15 people, and the reactions were huge!
Learn it, practice it, and make the necesarry preparations - and your friends will have a blast with this one, cause it is done with an everyday object, in an "out of the blue" setting, sit back and relax, they will never figure it out
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

I just wouldn't use gimmicks.
Do solid undetectable effects at a highschool. Not too long ago I visited some friends and old teachers and I did things like CMH and other elastic stuff. Those kids will always try to break your routine so make it frustrating for them . On a sidenote I use CMH all the time to introduce myseld to all the cute girls in my university classes . Never fails |
