I really like the move at 0:57 of the second video - would work with split coins and TUC as well as ]. Thanks for posting.

Others perhaps will post a more complete critique (there are some amazing coin workers that post in this forum). One thing that (to me) distracted from your performance was how often you were proving that the glass was solid (see at 1:15 in the second video).

Nice size on the glass table. Good looking props.

Keep up the good work!

Nothing personal, but I just don't like coins thru glass/wood table effects, maybe because I know how its done and there is so many more magical things that could be done. Question???? how are the reactions from your average layman? It could be just me who doesn't think its earth shattering magic but for those of you who do any of these effects - convince me. I have an open mind. and what is the proper setting for this? Dinner magic while you are at the table or mabe if you are doing walkaround in a bar a lot of people would be seated and it would be normal to sit with them and perform that.

I agree with you that the standard coins through table (glass or not) is usually repetitive and uninteresting (and leaves me somewhat cold).

But have you looked at the videos? What I liked about DJ's presentation is that the glass "table" he uses is perfectly sized to frame and perhaps magnify the magical moments. I could see someone designing a portable glass "table" for walkaround, perhaps angled down a bit so that people could see easier. The heft might make that somewhat of a drawback, but the effect might be worth it. I could definitely see this as a parlor routine or using a camera on stage. Luis Piedrahita could do wonders with this.

As to whether this would play well for laymen, I think that is entirely up to the magician's ability. I personally like penetration effects using glass and there are tons of them out there - so some laymen must be enjoying them.

I agree that is two great effects - but it goes to my point it is really being done in a tabled setting for two people (probobly on a big screen so the audience can see it and react but who can afford that?) Killer ending in his effect though. Very well done.

Wow, thanks Cablerock! Luis' work blows me away on a regular basis. He has a new book (or lecture notes?) out, but unfortunately it is not translated to English. I wish he would publish his routine with the China Bit. Now that is a killer routine!

Very good presentation. Maybe a very small disk of black felt or a wedding band as "portable hole" would supply additional misdirection and open possibilities for a script making this a routine rather than just a technical masterpiece.
