Just saw this today. I wonder how difficult or easy will this be to make?

Very interesting. I wonder if Steve knows about this. Since the latex tends to degrade, I don't think I would undertake this without Axtell handling it.

I have it in my mind that Steve was going to bring out a line of moving eye puppets. I haven't been over there for awhile. I don't know Lex Schoppi. Might be a swell guy. But I agree with Tom, Steve Axtell's the guy.

It's a good idea actually. It'll be interesting to see if someone invest in a set for their soft puppet and shares the outcome with us.

Jet at the Dummy Shoppe is offering blinking and side to side eyes in soft figures. This looks like it is a good attempt to make some money not that there is anything wroong with that. I also agree in a latex figure it would be rather hard to do.

I have been building animatronic and cable controlled eye/blink mechanisms into latex/foam latex/Antron fleece puppets for at least the past 10 years. These are custom built from scratch and not modified existing puppets.
I have, thus far, only done these puppets for my own ventriloquism needs and for TV shows/films as a special effects artist. I am now available for custom work for vents and puppeteers that want soft puppets or latex/foam latex puppets with built in animatronic facial features. This 'pimp your dummy' seems like an option for a do-it-yourself way of adding these features to an existing puppet - which I think is pretty darn cool! Damien |
