Why teach them anything?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I agree. We have the Internet. Why waste tax dollars on schools?

I was taught the Palmer method in grade school, and Mr Palmer never used that phoney baloney word.

But maybe we should talk about the word "ebonic" as long as we're at it.

That would clearly be off topic.

OK no cursive taught in school. While I don't necessairly agree I can understand the reasoning. But why no Shop class for boys or Home Economics class for girls?

A boy today has no idea how to even begin to do a simple home repair. No idea how to use a tool and would be all thumbs if given tools to use. But just watch him use those controllers on an X-Box, or watch him text. The average High School girl cannot even begin to prepare a home coked meal or sew a button on a shirt, but just watch her text. She can even text while driving. So again I ask why no shop or home Economics classes? Maybe because we had to make room for those Sex Ed classes. That is just a guess of course.

They should teach it in art class. Do they still have art class?

Since the sex ed is so good. They are too busy getting busy to have time to fix anything or do house keeping.

You aren't seriously trying to say that "sex ed" shouldn't be taught in school are you? What is this 1972?

To AL,

How is the word cursive ebonic?

1972? I had my sex ed in 1964 (pilot program). I only wish we had some lab work instead of just reading books and watching films.

Cursive Writing, dammit. Smile

For the record, I think shop class and home ec are great ideas and they are open to both sexes here in Canada, but...

Not sure about whether sex ed should be taught in school or not as I really do not know what is taught, nor do I know how many years it is taught. What exactly is taught and for how long is it taught? If I knew the answers to those questions I could give an answer. Is this sex education a skill you will use for a long time...like math and reading?

I am curious what does 1972 have to do with it? Didn't the kids understand sex that year? I mean I realize the school was not passing out condoms in 1972, shame on them Smile and the day after pill without parental consent, again shame on them. Smile Was that a bad thing? Is that even a point you want to take? I don't think sex changed from 1972 to 2012. I know the attitude has changed, and with the passing out of condoms in school, along with the day after pill without parental consent seems to condone and encourage sex among teens. It sends the message, continue and here is help, just do it and don't worry we have more if you need them. Do you feel that is a good thing? Neither of these practices has helped in preventing sex among teenagers. If anything I would say it has condoned it and spurred it along and encourages it. What a great plan.
