Not new. But, really, the claim is that this is done with a "borrowed deck".
1) The deck needs to be prepared in two ways. 2) We are told that the "c****p" can be done impromptu, but then he says that you have to look elsewhere to learn that. So, basically you are NOT going to be taught how to do this with a borrowed deck. Or if you DO use a borrowed deck, you need to prepare it outside of the spectator's view. As I said before, quite misleading. Still a good effect, but....should be more honest in the description. |

Hey guys,
thank you for your interest in my effect, hopefully I brought something fun to "cutting the aces routine". I know that method wise this is nothing "revolutionary" , but I put this out for a couple reasons. 1. Magicplace.com is a new company with a lot of new eyes in magic. our cliental is of more of the beginner quality of magician. what I was trying to do is to expose them to the more intircate card work out there and expose them to the ideas of the past greats that I grew up on (vernon, marlo, miller, etc). the twists that I have added, are the little touches I have placed to make the routine more magical, and to be honest, I like kicker endings lol. in reference to the method, I apologize for anyone unhappy with the method, but for the sake of ethics towards past creators, I didn't want to give away something that 1, wasn't mine to give away, and 2, something that was still being sold elsewhere. I have spoken to a few magicians and authorities on card and gambling work(Sal Piacente,Gazzo,Johnny Thompson) and have come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be a detriment to Martin Nash or Meir Yedid who owns the footage to Martin's work, if I taught his work on the infinity "c****" as long as I just give the basic work behind and nothing more . So, in saying that, I will be making a little video to supplement purchasing "Traction" where I will teach the method to trully make the effect impromptu with a borrowed deck. My apologies for any let downs , as my intention was not to mislead anyone, but just to stay true to ethics towards past creators. If you purchased Traction, leave me a pm on the Café or contact me at mcalabrese@apwi.net and I will send you the video with the extra work for the effect. Thanks Mark Calabrese Ps: here is a link for Martin's work on the Infinity Crimp and all his other stuff. check out his work as well as all of the other products Meir has to offer http://www.mymagic.com/nash.htm |

PPS:Change of plans, Email me ONLY at Mcalabrese@apwi.net. you must provide proof of purchase as well as your name. And to make sure I am extremely clear, I will only be teaching the BASIC handling for the c**** and nothing more. check out the rest of Martin's work for the in depth work. I will only be teaching how to make traction impromptu.
cheers- Mark Calabrese |

COMING SOON: Perform the classic Invisible Deck routine with a BORROWED DECK! Your spectator just names a card and you are immediately able to locate THE NAMED CARD as the only reversed card in the entire deck!
P.S. - while the deck may be borrowed, you must before performing find the time to r***h the backs of all cards and return them to the box in a precise configuration. I can't give you specifics on how to do this, but there are plenty of sources available. But hey, it uses a BORROWED DECK! Did I mention that? |

The Magic Place ad:
"Traction is Mark Calabrese's answer to the Scarne ace cutting routine with an ending that will fry your audience. With Traction you're able to borrow ANY deck, have the spectator name any four of a kind, and you dead cut to each and every card". Based on Mark's comments as to what this actually is, it would be best to go instead to the true source for the work, by Martin Nash: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S13110 Infinity Control: This is a very easy method of controlling cards that can be used with a borrowed deck. In addition to the techniques and variations, Martin also performs and teaches the following routines using the Infinity Control: One Card Pullout, Spectator Cuts To Card, Trapped, Infinity Force, and Backfire. |

You LOVED the great comments when they first came in, but when it was discovered that all you did was an old fashioned "dealer ad" targeted to your base, you showed what you're really all about. I buy a great deal of magic, but will never purchase anything from Magic Place. Congratulations, you are a great spokesperson for your company. |

Let's do our best to stay on track with the effect at hand. Mark and the MagicPlace team will offer a download for everyone that has purchased Traction to make sure some of the lingering questions are answered. I believe that Mark's frustration is simply from trying to do the right thing and he feels that even then people will go around him and try to figure out his effect the way most people do...reverse engineering it. As a creator of magic it truly is a frustrating thing because when you show a full performance you are potentially exposing the method in play. However when you don't show a full performance (because of these very reasons) people are upset because they feel you are misleading them.
Traction is a strong effect that we are proud to offer at MagicPlace. Zombie I offer my thoughts again to not let situations like this sway your impression of what we are offering as a whole. All the best guys! luke |

I just like great magic and any comments I make on demos, ads or products are my own opinions and have nothing to with whether I like a person or not. I think with all the flaming on The Café about Criss Angel or Magic Place, I kept my comments strictly about the magic they sell. Read my posts. I actually wanted them to succeed and made comments based on what I perceived as a consumer and offered what I thought was a helpful perspective. Why they would have their spokesperson flame me doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps the business model is "make sure not one person is supportive of us, no matter the cost to us in the long run". It's working. |

I think it's important that product descriptions at minimum match (what can or will) be taught on a download or people will be disappointed, which is obviously bad for both parties.
It's always best over deliver on our promises and product descriptions than vice versa. Personally, I'd change the product description until the download includes the additional information being offered. (for everyone that orders it, not just for those who are unhappy or happen to read this thread) Glenn

While I don't feel we were misleading (you truly can perform this with a borrowed deck) we are going to make sure people feel that they are getting their money's worth on this product and offer an additional download with even more. This won't be just for people that have purchased Traction up to this point, everyone that purchases it going forward will also get this automatically added to their order. It's your feedback that helps us get better with each and every release that we offer to the magic community. Thanks guys!

Here's my review..
Looking at the big picture I can understand why Mark has put this out there. Criss Angel's main fan base for this sort of thing is youngsters and beginners, and a lot of what he has put out previously in magic shops is clearly aimed at that demographic. I imagine that many of the people visiting the magic place to buy magic are indeed beginners, so an effect like this and also the previous work Martin Nash has done on it may have quite easily eluded them thus far. In that sense I can see exactly what Mark means when he talks about exposing some new people to this wonderful type of effect. I'm sure many beginners will be blown away when they realise that it's actually not such a difficult routine. That said, I would not describe the overall trick to be "easy" as it is on the site. You need to know how to do that move Kostya Kimlat has mastered.. you guys know the one! And you need to be *** good at it if you are going to perform this routine well. I have to say I felt I had been slightly misled by the demo and description because I am quite experienced with card sleights and already know about Kostya's and Martin Nash's moves, so when I initially watched the demo video and could see no signs of any Kostya-like OR Nash-inspired moves I was thinking perhaps I had been fooled and might learn something new. Instead I found that how I guessed it was done was exactly how it was done, and a few things had indeed been omitted from the demo or set up before hand, as I had suspected. I understand that this is necessary to a certain degree when advertising magic or it can end up being exposure, and if they mentioned Infinity in the description some more people might work it out. But when that is the case, as it is here, I think it's vitally important that the product description is as crystal clear as is realistically possible about what is going on, and for me in this case it really wasn't. To a beginner it might not be such a big deal, but for more experienced magicians who know what to look for and feel fooled for not seeing it (because the relevant moves weren't actually used in the demo), its not a nice surprise to discover that indeed you already know how the routine is done. I'm sure it's a tough balance to get right and I'm glad Mark is going to fix the problem of not actually teaching the borrowed deck handling, as this was definitely something the description made me think would be included. Having said that, if you already have Martin Nash's Infinity and know how to the Kostya, I think that the only new thing here is Marks really cool addition of the kicker ending, which he teaches quite well and in plenty of detail. Basically, beginners will learn a lot, while some of the more experienced guys may well feel let down. Fin |

Great review! Seriously. I want to mention in an honest way that I personally don't know anything about the card sleights being mentioned. What turned me off the demo actually had nothing to do with the effect. The effect fooled me. I have no clue how it's done, except for the ending...I think
I'm intrigued to find out that the moves (sleights) are easy to learn, and maybe even worth while for me to invest in. The effect Mark performed in the demo look really good. Look how much Sean was shocked by it, and he must of seen it a dozen times before that. (lol) I think I'll purchase it despite everything.
