Anything that you can do well and anything that has little to No re-set time. I am not going to give you particular trick names, but I will let you know some of the best sources to find what you are looking for.

Books
Royal Road to Card magic
Card College
Marlo Without tears

DVD
Michael Ammar Easy to master Card Magic

That should be all that you need.

Interesting, I sort of blogged about this today.

Starting out I would suggest, sponge rabbits, coin in nest or bill tube, glurpy (haunted Hank) and a few packet card tricks like wild card, eight ball and color monte. Also scotch and soda, cig or pencil thru quarter. Card Warp.

One could add card tricks with a set up deck like out of this world.

However if one wanted to go a more advanced route I would suggest Books like the Magic of Matt Schulien and the Magic Digest by George B. Anderson.

Ambitious card everytime. Ideal for restaurants as you can make it as long or short as needed.

I'm sorry, I know card effects are plentiful and can be baffling, but I do not think they are appropriate for restaurants. Yes, you can do them, but the clients do not always follow a card plot. To me, not only should restaurant effects be able to reset, but they should be short and uncomplicated enough to break off if the server comes with the food. I do invisible deck, as it is fast and effective.
ambitious card short and sweet, a sight thing and not too much thinking. Out of this world: too long. The bunny's are about as long as you want to get.

The classic book the stars of magic has John Scarne's copper silver routine. And several Vernon routines like Cutting the aces, triumph, and a gret coins thru table routine by Dai Vernon as well.

With the exception of regulars... I stick to ambitious cards and card predictions. A good way to give out business cards is to do a prediction on your card and go into amitious card right after. Just be sure when doing something with flinging or flying cards that it doesn't wind up in their soup! Smile

Depends on where you work and how you work. If it's by request and you get to sit down with the guests, your set might differ than if you have to "cold call" each table and will stand.
