The Magic Cafe Forums - Worst performance experience?

Oh wow.. so many great stories
well here is my horror story

so I was doing my first gig for over 1000 people in a major public square in mexico.. everything was going great
I was doing pure mentalism and people loved it.. but at the end of my routine
I have this prediction which was locked on a jeweler case since the beggining of the show... the bad thing is the paper
had to be read by the audience member whose choices "i predicted"...
so he made the choices.. and then... I pointed to the box.. "you made all these choices.. bla bla bla yet I managed to predict each of them and they are all on this box..." I showed the paper inside and gave him the paper.. now "read what it says"..
and then he said the worst thing I ever heard in a show... "I don't KNOW HOW TO READ".
he was one of the 6% of people that here in mexico CANT READ!..
so I was this big mentalist "know it all" that predicted stuff.. but couldn't manage to predict this guy was an analphabet..
somebody else read it.. but the moment was gone..

I still cringe at that memory
oh well.. live and learn
