A question for those using "Zen" on stage: How do you fill the time the certain procedure takes? I've only tried this in non-stage environments and felt, like it drags a little. Music? Entertaining patter?

I often could get even longer words within 30 seconds. Another way would be to have someone think of something personal and do a reading that you interupt by getting the next letter.

Ok, Sounds good. I was doing it letter by letter so far. I'll try to speed it up. Thanks!

This is a number one 'way didn't I think of that' idea...
But Colin did think of it, and I can only applaud him for that! Cheers Colin! John |

This is a good one, but it's not a great one in my opinion. And yes, it's totally a "why didn't I think of that" idea.

Guys does anyone know if this is for sale anywhere? Colin s website (magician section) seems Out of order.
-Magic? No,sleight of hand.
-The fact I MAY move my hand;your ability to reason;the motion of the universe; these are magical. Your logical inquiry into the possibility of something extraordinary is itself extraodrinary and that i define as magic... |

If you ask the participant to think of a name - you can use Derren Brown's verbal ploy from Smoke to get the first letter. You can also combine it with a prediction. That way, the methods will cancel each other.

This is a very neat application of a method,
but if I'm thinking from the spectator's perspective, bringing out this prop (it's NOT ordinary...the spectator has never seen one before), strikes me as MUCH less natural than having them write down their word on a business card or memo pad. Some spectators will forget they wrote anything down, if you're doing a CT or p__k, or imp device. But I can't imagine a spec forgetting this procedure and simply describing this as, "He knew what I was thinking!" I could be totally wrong here, I haven't performed this, but I just can't imagine how you could keep a spec from remembering this procedure. |
