Hey Gang,
I love magic. No, I REALLY love magic, and I wanted a way to give back to the community that I love so much. To that end I decided to create a blog for magicians focusing on the business side of things. Topics will include marketing materials, graphic design, branding, back of room sales, evaluation forms, use of photo’s, newsletters, videos, custom show material, trick reviews, and hopefully much more. All of this is going to be offered for free. I’m not looking to sell an eBook, a marketing course, or anything like that. I truly just want to give back to the community. I hope that my posts will inspire you to take action in your own business, and to join the conversation. So far I've posted several articles including:
Please let me know what you think! If you would like to stay in touch you can friend me on Facebook as well. |

Thanks Tom and Danny.
When I first decided to perform magic full-time I had the forums on http://www.TheDean.net (with Dean Hankey and crew) where I learned sooooo much about business. I don't claim that my way is the right way or that I know everything, I just hope that maybe my blog will be as helpful to others as that forum was to me. |

Absolutely, in your RSS reader you can put in http://partshowpartbusiness.com/feed/. I think if you just put in http://www.PartShowPartBusiness.com it will also work.

Thank you! I am currently using my Android phone for just about everything, and the reader often works better than the browser for many blogs.
Got it subscribed. Now -- to get busy reading everything! Cheers. Ed |

Do you know anything about generating leads, build a client base, where to glean potential clients, controlling the lists of potential clients.
So far all your material is after a client base is formed. The hardest part, I and many others are trying to tackle is the 1st step, finding the buyers lists. We don't have a retail store where people seek us out and come to us, so we have to locate them, don't we. Looking forward to your expertise and suggestions. |

I noticed you don't have a website Bill. I just posted an article on how to create a website using wordpress here: http://partshowpartbusiness.com/2013/02/......rdpress/ That is the easiest way to attract new customers besides "being in the marketplace" (ie: performing lots).
In terms of building your client base... Most of my work comes from word of mouth after delivering a great show. All of the techniques I've been talking about on my site may LOOK like 'customer loyalty', but its really branding and marketing. Creating a positive customer experience will lead to referrals and recommendations. I use Sage by ACT to manage and keep track of my customers. I will be doing posts on that eventually, but it will be a huge project so I'm kind of putting it off for now. Eventually though I will post about that too. |
