The super market was like a zoo yesterday. My kitchen is full of food, and we have propane for our fire place. I still have three shows to do, and I plan to do them. They say this will be the biggest I have ever seen, so bring it on

I remember Hurricane Hazel, and Diane when I was a kid, but this Frankenstorm is going to close a lot of small bridges for days.

I ordered a generator that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. So I hope that gets here before the power goes out. We got food, wood inside for the fireplace, everything off the floor in the basement, all the porch furniture in. Other than the generator, I'm about as prepared as I can get.

No flooding here we are on a big hill, without a basement, but we are surrounded by a couple low lying streams that will soon become raging rivers.

I feel for you, brother. I've dealt with hurricane floods and power outages too many times when I was in Alabama. No fun. Stay safe and stay dry... that goes for ANY Café members in the path of this thing.

I'm mostly worried about being stuck for days at home with no power and a grumpy woman.

The gov of NY just announced he was suspending subway, bus and rail service throughout the state. The mayor of NYC hasn't yet decided about school closings, though it's hard to see how many students would get to school here without public transportation.

If you are reading this and you will be affected by this storm, please be safe.
There was a training excersize during 1997 for this very storm on the same path. You can run a google search to see the results and some of the data that may be useful to you, as you endure this weather. The name of the storm during this excersize was coincidentally also named "Sandy". Read into what I am telling you for yourself. Godspeed! |

NYC mayor announced schools are closed on Monday. Since the worst of it is supposed to hit Tuesday morning, I expect that transit and schools will still be shut down on Tuesday as well.

Here is my tip for you, place all your important items in some type of water proof
container tupper ware sealed inside of plastic bags etc....then take them to your car trunk. If you get flooded, your items wont get washed away or lost. In addition, fill your bathtubs and sinks with water. Before you do this, make sure that they don't leak or else your tubs/sinks will empty and you will lose the water. Filling your tubs/sinks will allow you to have some extra reserves, should this power outage exceed several days. The pumps at the waste water treatment facilities may be affected as the back up generators run out of fuel. IF you are in colder region, get your perishables from the freezer/refridgerator and also place them into your trunk. The cold weather will keep them help to preserve them from spoiling sooner if they are outside. Just make sure the containers don't leak. I wish you well and safe passage as you go through this. Many times predictions for calamities on these storms don't bring in the vast amount of damage that the software predicts, but you should always prepare for the worst. I wish you well and safe passage. |

Our thoughts are with you guys on the East coast. Here's hoping you weather it well, with the least amount of trouble. Hunker down, endure.

While I sit here fairly safe in California, worrying only about tsunamis and Earthquakes, I remember my days as a New Yorker. You are all in my prayers. I hope you and your loved ones all stay safe and comfortable.

Good luck. I hope its not as bad as think its going to be.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
