Tomorrow I start working with a TV show for children. We will be filming the first 5 episodes. Here is the catch - because all TV has to be closed captioned for the hearing impared we have to work with a teleprompter. I submitted the scripts early so they could be typed in before (cheaper than doing it after, not a large budget). Any advice from all of you seaseoned professionals? I have never worked with a teleprompter before and I want to be natural yet I know I have to stay on script. Advice?????

It's really pretty easy, except in closeup when your eyes may be seen moving side to side. Try to grab things in chunks. This is pretty easy, as most teleprompter text is set up in short lines. The guy running it in the booth (if he knows what he's doing) will play off of you and scroll it at your pace. It's like singing with an orchestra...they follow you, you don't follow them.
I just finished a session last night with one. The guy in the booth was good. I'd ship him to you, but I don't think he'd survive in the crate.

Thanks Philip! That helps a lot! I just hope I don't do what I did in practice for my Christmas DVD! We were going along and it was Lily's (my puppet)line. I paused and then finally my husband said, "Um Lisa, Lily is supposed to be talking!" I realized that I was waiting for her to say her line!! I think I need help!!!

Philip, Things went fine today! The guy running the script did just what you said he should do! He followed us very well. The other actor and I had never worked together before and he had never worked with vent puppets before so the first script was a little rough and we had to do it several times. But the next 4 went much better. Now the waiting until it is broadcast Smile Thanks SO much for your advice, I felt like I had a better idea of what to expect!!
