On Stereo's blog I noticed that the Glass Board is rated:
Effect : 5/10 Design : 4/10 http://tenyo-magic.blogspot.com/2010/05/t-026.html I like this effect. Why don't others? |

The effect is Krug's Penetration Frame: a perfect trick that has been stolen and stolen again for most of the last century. I don't even think Krug originated it. If people don't like the effect it's because they've never seen it done properly. There is literally nothing not to like.

In my opinion there is. I've owned several Tenyo versions and after a few attempts the gimmick becomes loose thus revealing the trick to spectators when they take the board in their hands. There are cheaper versions with a much tighter gimmick that are better.
Tenyo's Mystery Triangle is also a better/improved version. |

Yes it's just like Coin case. The effect in the 70's was very good. But Richard is true and now in 2012 the trick has been stolen and stolen again, and it became in fact a trick that all the spectators know by heart, trick which are found in sets for children, offered gagdget in magazines etc etc They no longer have the same power as in the past. But as usual in the hand of good magician you can do miracle. I decided a while ago not to note the old tricks, I have now to uptades this on the blog.
Yes Mystery Triangle is amazing. |

I do agree, the loose gimmick is a shame.

The version of the penetration frame made by Royal Magic (Fun Inc) in the 1970s was better quality.

Thanks Richard,
Bought one on line. It is a Royal Magic, probably not from the seventies though. I do have a use for this trick and would like a more reliable gimmick. I'll put it to the test. Ed |

If you can, get one of the metal models...Krug, and others...or any of the vintage wood models...there are dozens. It really is a very pretty and mystifying effect. It just didn't translate all that well to plastic.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
