Hello insight,
On both performances by James he does it both ways. One where the lady opens the bottle first and then reseals the cap and the second where the bottle is unopened and then opened after the change by the spectators. I think the important thing here is that the bottle is completely ungimmicked and isn't touched by the magician until just before the effect happens! Hope this helps and thanks for all the positive messages so far. Remember that this is just one part of a larger project! Best, Russ |

Thanks for your insightful response, Russ. I'm assuming the 2nd version in which the bottle is not opened is more impressive to the spectator as there is less of a perception that you put something in the water, correct? I mean, if the bottle is truly ungimmicked and truly untouched 5 seconds before the effect happens, and if the bottle cap is tightly shut, I can't imagine that version not having a higher "wow" factor than the one in which they open the bottle cap. Am I missing something?
Regards, Mike |

Hi Mike,
Well I'm not so sure! Both versions got a great reaction every time James performed it. I think even if they open it themselves and drink from it and then re-seal it themselves, proving that the bottle and cap are not gaffed either, is equally strong. I think the strength of this is that either way, the bottle can be given back immediately at the end and the bottle can be genuinely sealed from the start using their bottle. Best, Russ |

Mister Stevens, I live in France and I know a lot of you live in the USA. My question is, if there is something very special used in this trick, could it be find anywhere in the world ?

Looks awesome. What is the repeatability like? Can I do this trick at 10 tables at a banquet or is it going to be a one off?
Can the bottle be closely inspected at the end or will it pass only a cursory inspection? |

Where are you going to keep these dozen bottles of water for table hopping? It's not designed for this environment.

I was under the impression that you could use a spectators water bottle, of course I could be wrong, but this would eliminate carrying lots of bottles around which I don't think is plausible. Also many weddings and corporate events that I have performed at often have bottles of water readily available... Would be interesting to see if each time you perform this, you will need another gimmick..
For a while Houdini used alot of trap doors in his act, but he was just going through a stage!

Jpovey,
Based on what's been described, you don't need any water bottles. You could use ANY spectator's water bottle, as no advance preparation is required. This is the reason why this effect has caught the attention of many! Regards, Mike |

Wait, if they turn the bottle upside down and give it a squeeze, you'd be in trouble wouldn't you? Not sure I could trust that.

I meant of the lid is closed. I do that when I have a bottle of water without even thinking about it. If they did that, I have a feeling there would be a mess.

Hi Guys,
The way that I'd suggest doing this effect is to ask the spectator to open their bottle and take a drink, meaning that there will be a displacement of water in the bottle. They then re-cap the bottle and hand it to the magician for the first time. As for tipping the bottle, we shot this multiple times and no-one tried to do that. Please remember this is only one routine that makes up a much larger project! We expect to have a full trailer up within the next few days to give everyone a better idea of just how much is featured. Thanks again everyone for the interest so far. Best, Russ |

I have icandy, handle with Carey, John Carey's 24/7 2dvd set, and I have unknown all by RSVP magic. All these DVDs are great, and from the looks of witchcraft2 more icandy will also be great. I won't hesitate to buy another RSVP product.

Looks fantastic! How easy it would be to switch between flavours during a performance?
Would it be possible to perform it thru a paper bag? For a mentalism routine. You have influenced your spectator to choose a specific flavoured water. Now that would be great. Guys don't copy this idea All the best, Martin |
